and I have a question, as long as your cd drive can read cdg can you play karaoke disk through the computer using compuhost? I know some people like to bring their own versions so this is a must if you want to try and run a good show. Bar I dj at is thinking of doing a 3 hour karaoke gig once a week and I am thinking of doing it.

I dj with otsav and it has karaoke in it but when I load my karaoke into the files they show up with the regular tracks and grabbing the wrong one on a friday or saturday night would not be good lol.

I only have a little over two thousand tracks but will update to what is the in thing around our area right now as far as the singing go's but thinking of using some different software until ots gets all of its stuff figured out.

Thanks for your time,

No can do through the program itself. You need a video capture device and an outside player to do what you want to. That is what the internal button is for.

When you open up the Compuhost program, in the Top Right hand corner you'll see a "button" that says internal, if you click on that button, it will change to EXTERNAL. This allows you to play discs from an EXTERNAL source, via video capture device.

Have you looked into other karaoke programs?

There are many alternatives and choices that may better fit your needs

Not really just trying out the compuhost right now to see how it works and if it would work etc.. I am really waiting on ots to get their act together as far as the karaoke go's but who knows when that will be.

As far as just playing off of the computer ots is great but not a lot of bells and whistles yet for karaoke.

I will probably try others but why bother downloading and trying them out if I ya can't give them a good run to see what it would be like with them.

Just wish I wasn't so stupid when it comes to software stuff as I use the search and can read a lot of info about a lot of this but sometimes the answer just dosn't jump up and grab me.lol

Thanks for the replies.

You can download MTU Hoster - it does play cdg's from a compatible drive (which most DVD drives today are). I believe it limits the song to a minute or 2 in demo mode but should give you a good idea.

I will look into that one as well, maybe buy another 3 tray jvc which is what we had when we owned the dj business a few years back. just play off the computer until someone wants to use their disk and then go to that. Also a backup who knows.

I read on here somewhere that some kj's who use this software record the singers and then play it right back or even make disk for them and the question I have about that part of it is this..If the mics are coming out of the mixer and the karaoke part of the music is coming out of compuhost and then going to mixer and out how do you actually get that recording? Is it connected back through the computer from the mix board somehow so you can get the vocal or going to something else out of the mix board that is not on the computer and then played back on that?

My wife would like that when singing so she can check herself out once in awhile.

Again Thanks for your time,

you need to send the sound from your mixer to your line in jack. I never could get it to work with my system.

I have a separate computer for recording. Just run the tape out of the mixer to the input on the sound card.
May be able to add a second sound card and use that one for recording and the other for the music playback.
