You can go either way...software will cost a few bucks but you can use MS Access or Excel for free. I bought a software program called Karaoke Speedbook because I liked the way the output looked, but unfortunately, the database was hopelessly outdated, and the tech support was less than stellar. I'm actually thinking of going with the KJ Pro software because their database seems to be about the best around. You can check it out at KJprodotcom. It's a little pricey, but if it works--GREAT! Your songbooks say a lot about your karaoke company. If they are sharp looking and easy to navigate, people will notice! |

I've gone both routes... and although I prefer the feel of Speedbook, it's SOOo hard to manipulate. Because the updates are sooo sporadic. Eventually, you'll be hand typing it all in anyway! But it DOES produce a supurb outlook! |

From a singers point of view... The easier the books are to use and read the better. When your in a venuue tring to read the book and the print is way to small it gets frustratin' at best. Add to that the endless sections of newer songs, and then newer songs on papers loose in books, well we'd just rather carry our own... Books do say a lot about a person's business.... My wife and I own about 114 discs, and we have to books that we use at our parties and such. One by song and one by artist. Even with this small number of songs it is a pain to incorperate new dfiscs into the book. I imagine that with thousands of more songs it is quite the job. There is no doubt about the fact the KJ's books and there usablity, says a lot about the how their business is run... On another note, anyone ever have trouble with people stealin' books? I've known karaoke singers with whole collections of books, taken form shows all over the area in which they sing..... |
