For some reason I was glancing at the online Wall Street Journal today. They had an interesting article called "Return of the Divas" about upcoming new releases by Whitney and Mariah. But the article also describes how music is changing... Article: Link It makes for an interesting read. A few quotes... Quote: Vocal-driven pop music is "not the most popular genre of music right now," says producer Harvey Mason Jr., Quote: Mr. Mason says that young singers are recording fewer ballads, which can serve as showcases for vocal flair.
Has the death of the ballad truly arrived, or will it resurface? Will "vocal driven pop" return? As someone who likes to sing, I hate to see good melodies and ballads go away, or be completely relegated to country music. |

Hey a couple of well placed tats and wires they'll be right on top again. The most intriguing thing is the demands for artists to do faster songs from the radio stations. They want to keep people from switching channels for the advertizing dollars. Could that be the coming trend for karaoke shows? Editing the song books by the tempo of the song using the number of beats. Very interesting. If it comes to that will you do it? ![]() |
