How to make the software? Are you looking to put out a new product? There are some already out there now you'll find KJs swear by, and that's fine. I just did a lot of copy/paste, and cleanup (lots of cleanup), with Excel. To do it all over, I might be tempted to go the KJPro route.

I gotta agree with BJC, KJ Pro is the way to go!

I gotta go with Ice AND Marty both. KJPro is the way to go to get everything listed that you need quickly. Then modify the numbers however you like. I just added a dash and some spacing between the letters and the numbers of the discs so that they will be easier for drunks to copy in low lighting. Then export the whole thing to an Excel file in order to take advantage of all the cool stuff there like printing options, alternative shading, font options, etc. I did about 8,000 songs entries in just a few hours. Most of it was adding the dashes and spaces to KJPro's numbering system. Have fun! :)

I tried a bunch of different listing programs and even bought several of them (doh*) before finding out that Music Book Deluxe is the most versatile of the bunch. KJ Pro came in second place for me.

The ones I tried (and the order in which I tried/purchased them) were:
 1) Karaoke Song List Creator from Airwer--um...okay, but inaccurate and not export-friendly.
:) 2) KJPro--fairly accurate, but allows for a lot of different spellings/listings of the same songs; very dependent upon the accuracy of individual listings.
:? 3) FastTracks V2 SongBook Creator PLUS Trial Version--Cumbersome and only took me 15 minutes to decide I didn't want to delve further.
:x 4) Karaoke SpeedBook--really should have done some more research before purchasing this one...a real egg. Inaccurate, incomplete, and infrequent updates.
:D 5) Music Book Deluxe--FABULOUS. It standardizes each song entry so you don't end up with a listing for "Elvis Presley," one for "Elvis Presly," and one for "Elvis." It also makes it simple and quick to find and hide/eliminate duplicates from your songbooks if you choose to do so. Only drawback is that it doesn't yet allow for first name-last name entries without manually typing every artist in.

I hope my trials and errors help you. I do my final layouts in Word and PDF formats, but all the organizational work is done in MBD. You should find either MBD or KJPro to be pretty good, but I like MBD better for the consistency of entries.

After trying the trial version of a couple different ones, I went with the Music Book Deluxe. Glad I did, and really like it.

I types my list manualy using Words  Don't think those softwares work on vcd karaoke. Can they, never try. That's the only karaoke format we have got in my parts of the world. CDG cant get them here.

The thing that's cool about MBD is you can type in the beginning of the title and a drop down list appears telling all the choices of the titles that start with that. Then, when you choose the title you want, you tab to the artist field and all the artists they have listed as performing that song are there for you to choose from.

I typed all my VCDs and off-kilter/strange/custom-ordered discs into MBD that way, and it still was extremely useful in maintaining consistency and eliminating duplicates.

Now I'm really thinking about switching over to MBD. Does anyone know if MBD will allow you to import from KJPro? What about from Excel?

MBD Can import from Excel, comma-separated values, or CAVS.
