Post subject: | Honest Comments Help Improve Our Songs |
Honest Comments and Ranks Should Help us all Impove on our songs and not make us fill bad. I'm not a pro and never taken a singing lesson thats why I like Karaoke you don't have to be a great singer. But is sad when you hear real bad singers and they get all kinds of claps. So they they think there doing a good job and continue to trash song after song. I refuse to clap on those bad singers. Those of us who appreciate a good singer should encourage those bad singer to work on there songs. Everybody could sing as long as they work hard on the songs they like to sing. And then they would be appreciated by those us who love the art of music. thanks for your honest comments it has help me to Impove on my songs DJ Lou |

I agree ... honest comments ARE helpful! I believe there is an art to crtiquing someone's work. Comment's like "you suck" or "that was horrible" are just rude and don't help anybody! That's how flame wars start! I think people need to offer suggestions when they are commenting, if they feel the person needs to work on their pitch or timing... they should say so... as long as comments are made with the thought of being helpful and kind... there should not be any problems! "Should" being the key word here! |

Post subject: | topic on honest comments |
Well I realize I kept spelling the word Improve wrong. I wish we could edit are topics as well as we could are songs. Well thats another topic. Back to this topic sometimes I find myself singing songs off key and hard for me to sing. So I go for the songs that fit my voice. I think that's what happens to some people they can't sing the song but they keep sing it anyway. I try suggesting songs that would go with thier voice and encourage them to practice. I did that once and this singer turn out to be really good after all. That's why is good to be honest and helpful. I thank everyone who has giving me honest comments in the past it realy has help me to Improve my songs. Thanks DJ Lou |

Karaoke isn't meant to be about bad/good singers. It is about giving the little guy the opportunity to act like a star, even if it is for 3-4 mins. at a time. As an ex-karaoke host, I know how much courage it takes to get up on stage and wail. After 8 years, I have seen & heard just about everything. It takes no effort to critique but it takes almost everything a person has in their soul to get up on that stage and perform in front of an audience. People should be applauded just for the effort, good or bad. But, that doesn't always happen. In a place like this, it makes more sense to keep bad comments to yourself but that is the chance you take when posting. That is the SAME for getting up on stage to sing. You put yourself in the spotlight...if you can't handle it, then don't do it. That's why I say ignore the bad stuff, run with the good. Not everyone can be perfect, but hey! at least they are trying & having fun doing it, right? Enjoy The Site! |

Now, I just gotta put my 2 cents in on this one. I would much rather sub a new song here, and have people be totally honest with me on it, rather than get good comments on a bad song & so "off I go" to sing it in public. I have listened to a few songs that the singers were terribly off key, and people give really good comments about it, saying it was perfect. That really does nobody any good. Then we go to a K-bar and get boo'd by an unforgiving (usually drunk) crowd. If I sound bad on a song, or it just does not fit me, I'd rather hear it straight up. If someone is bad on something, or sings off key, don't comment if ya don't want. But I would never lie to someone on here just to be nice, it's better I think to remain silent. So, for my sub's anyhow, that's how I'd ask everyone to be. I mean, we all know when we sub that people are gonna listen & comment, so we should be prepared for honesty. Nobody is gonna be great on every song they sub. |

Post subject: | Not sure what to say to this one!! |
Tough topic!! This is important, and seems to keep cropping up (in one form or another). I was not sure what to say here, but I do think that ranking and comments are imporant and powerful. You've all made very good points -and caused me to do some thinking - I'm still perplexed. It's important to leave comments, if only to let someone know you listened in. I know that's why I come to this site...to hear my new friends sing...and be heard. I have a slooowww connection, so its hard at times - but its worth it. For now, I'm gonna stick to the 'First, do no harm' attitude. I'll do my best to encourage someone in their love of singing by pointing out where they are doing well....and ALWAYS leave comments. |
