Hi there, I have seen a lot of people recommend the mackie mixer 12. I saw a couple different ones and wondered which one I should get... DFX12 12x2 Mixer or Mackie CFX-12 Mixer. I didn't realize there were multiple Mackie 12 mixers so I thought I'd ask which one I should be looking at. Thanks again! |

Depends on your needs. The DFX-12 is a very simple design. Has only a hi (treble) & lo (bass) channel eq. No mid control (where the vocal frequencies are). 5 band eq. Built in effects. The one thing this does have over the CFX is a vocal reducer, but it is not a big deal as most players have one built in already. Is in the budget of most home users. The CFX-12 is a more complex design. Channels have hi/mid/mid sweep/lo eq which will yield better clarity in the sound of the vocals. 2 4 band eq's on the 2 stereo channels which will yield better control on your music channels. 9 band eq over the 5 (which neither are really good for anything more than basic tonal shaping - but the 9 will give more control overall). Built in effects. More routing options for monitors, external processing & recording. 4 buss design (you can route multiple channels to 1 fader). Has a subwoofer crossover built in if needed. Is in the budget of more pro-minded users. There is also a VSX1202. But this one doesn't come with effects or eq built in. |

I got the DFX and wished I'd have spent the other $75!!! Don't get me wrong... I love it. But Lonman's is far better!!! |

I noticed that there is a HUGE price difference between the two. The DFX sells for $239 and the CFX for around $550. (which is a bit out of my price range)... Is there any other mixers that are close to the Mackie quality but a little more affordable? |

at the time, I got the DFX for @ $240 or so... and the CFX was only a hundred more... somewhere close to that... so yeah, I'm kickin' myself for that! If you want quality and options, you will have to pay for it! |
