Post subject:  Dual CD player???

I'm wanting to start using a dual CD player to use for filler CD's during karaoke gigs as well as to mix regular music for an upcoming wedding gig. I have zero experience with these and am hoping y'all can give me some direction. It doesn't need to be anything extravagant and the simpler the better.

To keep it REAL REAL simple. I just use dual JVC triple play Karaoke machines. Its a little work but can actually dj this way. You wont be Mr. Wha Wha Holla back at cha dude, but no one will be the wiser. Because if you keep them dancing who cares what your using. Unless they want all the loops and frills. Drives all the dj's crazy when they see me pull it off with Karaoke equipment.

If your primary need is for filler, then adding a second CDG player is a good option. You also then have a backup should you need it (I bring along a karaoke player for backup to my DJ players). For dual DJ players, American Audio products are decent quality and price. Higher end would include Denon and Pioneer. You can also check out Numark and Gemini units. Drop by your local Guitar Center or Sam Ash type of store to try 'em out.

If you just want background music- and I have used this for parties- I use a plain old sony discman, plugged int the last channel on my mixer. As the song ends on the karaoke machine, I raise the channel for the cd player, and visa versa. This way you get almost continuous music, by using 1 tray of the karaoke machine, and a discman. I had a DJ at 1 party that smacked himself when he saw how ridiculously simple this was- and how well it worked.

Just a cheap alternative......

Well, I managed to pick up a used American DJ DCD PRO200 for a $150.00. Should I be kicking myself, of did I get a good deal if it turns out solid?

I been using a twin player for a while now. It is extremely easy to use (fader start, relay etc) It's by Numark, but there are several on the market nowadays. Nip into your local DJ/KJ store for some free advice and a demo. Mine also plays CD+G's, but I understand that if yours doesn't - Then you can add a signal descrambler (again see your local dealer for info) to play to graphics. I can't stress how easy it is to play continuous music with these (the best thing since sliced bread - except for the ham and cheese filling)...what will they think of next... :D
