Post subject: | New Mixer quest |
From previous posts, you may remember that I am looking at getting a mixer as an add-on to a DJ mixer. I first started out looking to add just 3 or 4 mic inputs but after reading the advise given on this board, I realize that I'd be better off getting another mixer that my DJ mixer can plug into. So I've narrowed it down to the following. Behringer Xenyx 1202FX http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHXENYX1202FX Yamaha MG82CX http://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMMG82CX Which do you feel is better & why? My Dj mixer would plug into one of the above 2 mixers. I am getting the mixer just for mic input and echo/reverb effects on the mics. Thanks |

I own the Behringer mixer and it is a great mixer. Been running it since November without any issues. The only thing that the yamaha might have that is better than the behringer is compression. The behringer is rack mountable where the yamaha would need to be mounted in an upper raised rack. I don't see the need for the dj mixer with either mixer. |

Thanks The Yamaha, for sound quality, reliability, and compression. I own both mixers (or their close equivalent) and far prefer the Yamaha. |

Yamaha, hands down. The compression will prevent someone from "overbearing the mic", and help low singing singers come out more. You need it. I couldn't tell, but does that thing have balanced outputs? |

I think he is now talking about the Xenyx 1202FX, which is the non-rack one. |

Without question the Yamaha, reasons being I owned a Behringer Xenyx 1832FX once. I still own a Yamaha MG series I use from time to time. The Yamaha is superior in every area you could think of except maybe the power supply design. |
