Hi,

I'm looking for a budgeted karaoke system. Your suggestions on the following items would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1/ Hisonic MA3000K which has a pre-amp built in, echo, and tone controls and runs at $350
2/ GEM SOUND EXA3955 3,000 WATT is just an amp and runs at $178
3/ TECHNICAL PRO PA-2000 is also just an amp and runs at $189

Thanks guys for your valuable comments. I already have two 3-way speakers which require an amp of at least 200W. I found a BMB (RSQ DX-333) 600w output, 2 x 300W, mixer online that has everything build in. I could find any reviews on this one. How do you think about this one? Thanks again.

The speakers are 3-way PA speakers (PA 1200c). Here are the specs of this pair.
- 500W RMS max at 1000W RMS
- Sensitivity 92db with 32-30,000 Hz frequency response
- 12" 8ohm woofer
- Includes 5" midrange and 3"x7" horn tweeter
- Requires an amp that can produce a min of 200W at 8 Ohms.

Atually JVC made the triple tray FOR RSQ under license, when the license expired, JVC decided to quit making the line altogether for themselves & RSQ.

The speakers that I have are Pro Audio speakers (no brandname I admid) and each speaker is rated at 250W with a max of 500W. After searching on the net, I'm narrowing down to these two power mixers:
Phonic Powerpod 780 Plus 2x300W 7-Channel which runs at $297
Behringer EUROPOWER PMP2000 which runs at $314
Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.

Note: Although Micky's suggestion is actually an amp/mixer rated at 200W instead of 2000, it's rated properly. Don't know about the other, but Technipro's rating is a bit skewed. That 2000w is MAX at 2 ohm impedance. This means the MAX ( not RMS ) rating at 8 ohm is around 500w. Which means the RMS rating at 8ohms could well be 200 to 250W - the same as the unit Micky suggested.

Yeah sorry, none of those will be of any quality sound. The little package Micky linked to is a decent little PA then you can use your computer/laptop for the karaoke player.

BMB is another brand that no one here is going to recommend. Are they PA speakers? Or stereo speakers? Stereo speakers (ones without a horn tweeter) are usually not suitable for live vocals. And I am not sure you are reading the specs on your speakers correctly. Do they have an RMS, program, or peak rating? If it is Peak 200w that means you want a 100w/channel amp. The Sherwood RX4105 will drive those -- it is only $99.00 or less.

No speaker has those specs, really. I am guessing they are no-name speakers that don't even begin to meet what they claim. Your guess is as good as mine as to an amp to drive them. You could get a Behringer EP2500 for $250-300 or so on EBay. That's as good as guess as any for an amp to drive them. At least if the speakers don't work out, you can buy most any pair of decent PA speakers and get a reasonable sounding system.

Actually, BMB = Nikkodo = RSQ, who have been putting out karaoke equipment forever. . ( The made a NICE triple tray player, remember?) I won't say it's the greatest, but I think the RSQ mixer will meet your needs, given that you're on a budget. I would be very careful of those speakers though. I have a feeling they may be like TechniPros. I was once given a pair of their MAX 8s. Supposedly 300 watts, but couldn't handle 75 watts- PPFFFFT!

Atually JVC made the triple tray FOR RSQ under license, when the license expired, JVC decided to quit making the line altogether for themselves & RSQ. The karaoke mixer/amp again is not going to be great for sound. Anything that says "made for karaoke" or has "pro-karaoke" is typically not very good for karaoke - at least for good sound. It's often very overpriced & underfeatured. For the price listed on that unit alone you can get a nice little mixer & amp combo that will sound much better, have better effects section for the vocals & more versatile to grow with. Power Amp http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=481804 Being conservative on the amp ratings because the ratings for the speakers you listed don't really make sense. So for about $400, this amp & mixer combo will sound great - especially compared to the BMB mixer amp. The only thing karaoke mixers incorporate that regular mixers do not is typically a key changer - which is generally built in to most players & available on most karaoke software on the computers. Not needed in the mixer.

If those were my only choices I had to choose from, the Behringer pushes 165 watts per channel, the Phonic pushes 200 watts (although they do not say if it's max or not), i'd opt for the Phonic.
