| Post subject: | When Should You Start Getting Ready For Singing In A Talent Show? |
Should you start getting ready a week before the show? I want to practice my song so I can get better at singing it, but I'm afraid if I practice it too much it won't sound as good. Do you think this will happen? How much time per day do you usually spend trying to perfect a song? What do you recommend? |

I would at least after memorizing the song, so you don't have to watch the screen and concentrate on your stage presence, (hopefully the KJ is using the same manu) to just once or twice a day at home. The only thing to worry about afterwords would be nerves or butterflies. |

You start preparing as soon as you know you have something coming up. You should work on it as often as you are comfortable with - to the point where you know, no matter what happens, you can do EXACTLY what YOU want to do with it. IE: nothing outside of you (rambunctious audience member, monitor screen going out, whaddeveah) is going to throw your performance. If anything ever "feels wrong" vocally, take a step back and leave it alone for a bit. I don't recommend working more than half an hour at a time. You shouldn't be able to over practice to the point where it won't sound as good. There are a lot of factors that affect a performance, and no matter what, it is NEVER the same twice. Hopefully, the adrenaline rush you get when you perform live in front of people will help kick your performance up a level. |

Thank you so much for the replies guys. I've never really performed on stage singing before. I've done plenty of acting on stage but singing is an entirely different animal! |
