I have to advise customers that the lyrics are sometimes wrong but if you know the song you're singing you'd be fine.

"PLeeeeeassse Mrs zabery, I Just gotta talk to her"

I stole this from the VCD thread.
I thought it might be interesting to have people post their wrong lyrics here.
Some are funny. others are like, HUH? Where did they come up with THAT?

Having said that, I once saw for Shania Twain's "If You're Not In It For Love, I'm Outta Here" the lyric: "I'll be in number one" The correct lyric, of course, is "I'll be in number 409". I was fairly new to karaoke at the time and when I saw that, it threw me right off. It doesn't even fit in with the song!

I hope you are talking about wrong lyrics on CDGs. We have had the one where people misunderstood it themselves just recently.

By far the funniest one I have seen was on a U-Best Christmas CD. My wife and I had just come back from something -- maybe even karaoke -- and we were bushed. It was midnight, late for us, but we were trying to select songs to sing at Christmas. So we stuck in the UBest version of "I'll Be Home For Christmas".

Then the lyrics came up for the second verse:

I'll be home for Christmas
You can come on me

We dropped on the floor, rolling around, laughing. Literally.

Can't beat the Christmas one. But I have always been intrigued with the Sound Choice version of Jimmy Buffett's "Boat Drinks."

"Twenty degrees, there's a hockey game on,
Nobody cares, they are way too far gone" is

"Nobody cares, they are waiting for golf."

Also just attempted "Pencil Thin Mustache" on a host's disc of unknown brand and the line "Only jazz musicians were smoking Marijuana" had been censored with "Marijuana" just coming up as "xxxxxxxxx." But they left in the part about the living room floor and "all you want to do is learn how to score."

Late night, difficulty with brain engaging this morning, but I know there was a Jewel song - Oh yah, "Who Will Save Your Soul" that it would be hard to recognize without the music. Another, Janis Joplin, "Me and Bobby McGee" the different versions of "somewhere near Salinas..." Just a couple that always cause a head scratch. Nothing like the Christmas one - I think that'll be the funniest.

I sing the correct lyrics and forget about what anybody else reads on the screen.

...the SGB version has:

"brand new lead, comin on strong"

instead of:

"Breada Lee, comin on strong"

My guess is the CDG guy was young..nerver heard of Brenda Lee

SC has messed up a few in it's Day. I remember attending one of Lonnie's shows, and he had a regular singing a Bee Gees track. "You Should Be Dancing"

"What cha doin' on your back?" was misquoted as "What ya doin' on your bed" or something like that.

We used to have a whole thread about this once before.

The Dangerous cdg line also had a couple of misquoted lyric bits. The Loverboy "Working For The Weekend" track comes immediately to mind.

The title of the song " If this world were mine" by Luther Vandross and the Legends version title " If i ruled the world" makes me chuckle, in fact Legends makes quite a few discs with the wrong lyrics.

I've seen a lot of these, but the one I remember most was in SGB's version of "Family Tradition," in which the lyric is presented as "...and they both tried to kill me, behind room 73." It's supposed to be "back in 1973."

Flipping this on it's head, when I first saw the Jamiroquai lyric "Canned heat in my heels" I was forced to think "Well with the song being called Canned Heat, that makes more sense"...

In my head I had been singing "Candy in my heels"...

I felt inwardly stupid.

Many were done on purpose, for copy right problems....."hey dude, it's not your song. I changed a few words, plus I dropped the key a half tone.".....changing even one thing on a product can result in a new patent....but it didn't fly with the music industry...... :)

When I started to sing "Suddenly Seymour" I had to memorize it quickly because the lyrics that came up would make me laugh.

The line is: He don't give me orders

What comes up is: He don't give me NYLONS

I still can't look at the screen if I'm singing it. I'll bust up. There's a couple other weird wrong lyrics there, but I think that's the only one that actually affected me, so, that's the one I remember.

I agree with Legends being one of the worst when it comes to Lyrics or titles of the songs. I know, that the slow Eric Clapton Version of Layla has some wrong lyrics in it. The right lyrics should be "your old man he let you down". Can't remember the wrong lyrics in it, I never look on the screen.

I also went to another host's show down in Delray once. Oh my god... he had literally about a 1,000 songs, IF. I was warned, so I brought my own disc. His player wouldn't play it. So I finally find a song in his book and sign up. Some Lionel Richie song. The songs starts out right, but in the middle of the song, I had COMPLETE different lyrics from another song in it... I was stunned. Not misspelled, or changed a couple of words, just complete different! lol. I never saw that anywhere.

I sang a song at someone's show and the wrong words came up. During the instrumental part, I mentioned out loud that it had wrong words. I didn't care.

Sev,

sounds like that was a downloaded file, where someone screwed up. OR it was an onpurpose manu messup, trying to find downloaders!

Yep. There are quite a few systems out there with the same songs with the same messed up words.
