Hi All,

I am looking into the Unify Karaoke Software, and people here continue to mention it is 'buggy'. I am not sure what this means, and was wondering if people can elaborate.

If this post is agains forum rules, as it may be seen as negative, forum administrators are free to delete it. I am just curious about this software, and why people tend to shy away from it.

Personally, I like the fact that anyone who can use a 'self-checkout' at a local grocery store, could also use it to select the song they want to sing.

Never used this one, but buggy generally mean problems where stuff doesn't work right or worse crashes.

If anyone has used this software, can you explain some of the bugs you have seen? I have not run into the SW just dying... but one day, when I was moving songs around in the playlist... the sound stopped working. Not sure if it was my soundcard, the mixer ... or what (since it was the first time I used the sound-card, hooked up to the mixer). I closed and re-opened the software, and have never run into this issue again.

I am using an AMD Dual Core PC, with XP SP2. It has 4gb of ram, with 1 TB in storage, audophile 192 soundcard. I have spent the better part of a week (taking time off of my normal job) just loading music... However, before buying the Karaoke SW, I wanted to understand some of the issues I may run into.

Also, if the Motherboard supports dual displays... should I use a seperate video card?

While a modern motherboard MAY have good onboard video, I'd hate to not have a video card installed.... I've had the onboard go out on one, and I was suddenly scrambling to install an older card, work around the bios, go through the install issues with other software... not saying it's impossible or even terrible, but imagine that happening on a show night!

You bring up very valid points. I have the video card here, but never installed it, thinking I would take it back for a refund... saving a few bucks. Guess that wouldn't benefit me, if it ruined my evening....

Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow... (for a little while)

another thing to remember is MOST onboard video doesn't have a lot of video RAM, and can only handle basic graphics for long (that's how I blew out my onboard one!)... so if you're doing a lot of primary vga screen stuff, graphics intensive, I'd DEFINATELY do the additional video card!
