Post subject: | Home made supercdg reader |
Hi, I have the cavs supercdg dvd player and also have purchased the encoder, decoder cavs pro player and have downloaded the PlaySCDG-1000 olayer from cavs. My problen is as I have both SC foundation packs and all the bricks, as well as several Chartbuster disks. I am interested in making my own SuperCDG DVD,s. I have a suitable Plextor burner and have created disks, but the compilation method of changing the .cdg's to .mcg and then creating the text configuration file error free is a little daunting. I need a player that will play the .dat file before I finally burn it to a DVD so that I can do a check on titles and so on. None of the cavs products will play a home made superdvd made with cavs software. Does anybody know of a product that will play the .dat file? thanks |

Thanks for the replies, Unfortunately none of the CAVS pc players will play "home made" .dat files although their software creates them. They do specify that the CAVS software supercdg players will only play commercially made DVD's. I have the latest compatable plextor px 708a dvd burner. The file will play straight up in winamp without renaming, winamp accepts it as a media file and plays the audio. The main reason im making the superdisks is to have 1000 songs on one disk, but I need to check the content is correct before I burn it to a DVD, it would also be nice to play them from a pc if required. |

See, that's why I love the mp3+g format, so I can do it from a PC. I have about 8 GB of mp3gs, and it's only a fifth of my inventory! I'm in the process of building a pc to run my show with! |

I gotta go along with Brian on that one. I'll never be sold on something that is propriatary to the point there's no flexibility - unless it is the industry standard and is expected to remain so for some time. Cavs just ain't there. Talked to a friend of mine who bought one recently, and although he loves the super cdg bit, it won't replace his existing set up because he has so much more than what's on the Scdg. So it becomes more of an add-on to his existing system, and most of the song titles he gainned are not as good as his existing library. I wouldn't care to lug another piece of gear around under those circumstances. |
