Post subject: | ? on Connection |
Hi All, Hope you can help me straighten a few things out . My equipment (mainly for home use and occasional small parties) Mackie DFX-6 mixer Lexicon MPX100 (reverb) FMR RNC (compressor) Behringer UltraCurve DEQ2496 (EQ/FBD) BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer AudioBuddy PreAmp (2 channel) VocoPro DA4040FX Pioneer 563A DVD player Pioneer D912 A/V receiver karaoke speakers (DTECH) What is the "proper" way or the most efficient connection method ? I currently have the dynamic mics (Senheiser E855 & Shure SM58.) This is how I hook up right now: mics -> preAmp -> mixer mic channels RNC -> mixer Inserts (on mic channels) Lexicon 100 -> Send/Return EFX 1 Mixer Main Outs -> EQ -> Pioneer 912 Amp DVD player -> VocoPro -> Mixer CD In (Don't use the BBE at this point yet) The Behringer DEQ2496 also has compressor/limiter. Should I use it as Insert or as is ? Thank you for any inputs. |

Most part looks ok. Would drop the Vocopro unit & plug the player directly into the mixer inputs. If you want a little tonal control on the music over the high/low on the mixer, hook the player into the BBE then into the mixer. Would also recommend stepping up from the home reciever to a more pro-quality amp, but other than that looks ok. |

Lonman, Thanks for your valuable opinion. I sorta "inherited" the VocoPro from my bro a while back. It seems VocoPro doesn't get much regards nowaday, is it because of quality or lack thereof ?? I'm looking at either the RSQ 505 or the JVC (not sure what model yet), what 's your opinions on these players ? As you were suggesting about a better amp, what other ...budget brands should I consider ? Thanks again ! |

Vocopro is just not very reliable, quality (lack therof) or durable. RSQ/JVC can't really go wrong with these players. Budget power amp - depends on what your budget. With the speakers you have right now, the home amp is all you need - I didn't see those for some reason before. Speakers would be first, then power amp. Take a look at the Yamaha Club Series S115IV speakers. Relatively cheap - in a pro comparison - that will still yield a nice full sound. As far as amps, check into QSC, Peavey, Crown. Any of these will be in a realatively budget environment - relatively speaking. Look for something that will push a minimum of 250 watts (or more - rule of thumb is double the power that a speaker is rated) per channel into 8 ohms. This speaker handles 250 watts rms, so an amp pushing 500 watts per channel is ideal. |

Lonman - Thanks for the info. Looking at the RSQ 505 pic, I don't see the Key Change option on the player, does that mean it can be accessed only via the remote control ?? Hmm.... Have you or anyone else had any experience with the Behringer DEQ2496 ??... I just got it so I really need to play with it a bit more, it looks like a versatile piece of equipment ... |

key change on the 505 is only on the remote... that's true! |

That's the problem with remotes, they put all the functions on them. They can be good but also a pain in the *** if you lose/break them or just something else in your hands when just hitting a button on the machine would be so much easier. |
