Post subject:  Mounting Kit for JVC Triple Tray
Hi Everyone,

Someone posted a while back that there is a mounting kit for the JVC Triple tray, could you post that again? Also, I am thinking of getting an RSQ 505 multi-format player as a backup, would the kit work with that as well?

I use a RAXXIS tray for my JVC.... Its a rackable tray that the JVC sits on and then it gets held in postion from above and then the entire unti gets mounted in a standard rack ...I think its close to 3 rack spaces ???

I've seen "ears" that they have for rack mounting that player but a 2 or 3 space tray wound be much stronger.

Those trays would work for both.

I always use trays. I use the screw mount trays(only 24.99).

I usually take the jvc cover off and see a safe place to screw in self tapping screws from the right and left sides.

**Note** If you aren't sure what your doing don't use this method, A screw into a circuit board will cause a "bye bye" to your machine.

If you are not sure, Use the Raxxis clamp type.

You can also velco (source: Walmart) the unit to the rack shelf. I have my wireless receiver and RF modulator secured this way.

I do have some of the Raxxess trays. I guess you're right about it being stronger, Sammy. But how do you mount it when the unit has feet?

Jam, it sounds like the trap rack might be worth checking out. Does this allow you to secure the unit even with the feet?

I take the feet off the unit , they just unscrew very easy. Never had a problem with the system working EXCEPT.... MAKE SURE IF YOUR ARE USING THE TRAP SHELF YOU DONT SQUEEZE THE HECK OUT OF THE PLAYER... I mean when I first started using I really clamped the player tooooooo toght and the top tray wouldnt work until I loosened up a bit ..little trick ..Before you actually rack the player make sure all draws work properly.... Velcro with other trays work ok tooo. There are pros and cons..The CON with the trap shelf is it adds a little weight too the setup but then again its is sturdy :roll:

I use a tray that has about 50 holes pre drilled in it. Take off the feet and screw through the same holes.

Is this on a Triple Tray, Jim?

I haven't looked at it closely in a while, but I thought that taking the feet off the botttom would leave the unit to teeter; what I mean is that without the feet the unit would be deeper in the middle of the bottom than around the sides of the bottom, leaving it to totter. I hope you can understand my explanation. :?

I will explore this further though...Thanks Jim! :)

I also may order a trap tray, Jam. I checked them out online and they look like they would do the trick...thanks!

I have the 505 at home and bring it along as a backup player. It's a decent unit. For key changes and the like you have to rely on the remote moreso than the triple-tray. It also takes longer (to me, though I haven't benchmarked it) to read a disc. I don't like working with single tray players alone though - would rather be able to load the next disc while one is playing. For backup, or if you have some DVDs in your library, it's fine.

That's the idea, to use it as a backup, or if anyone brings their own karaoke disc on DVD. The Triple Tray is my main player, and although I haven't hosted a show yet, I agree that loading a disc while another is playing is helpful! :lol:

ANY DVD player will take longer than a pure cdg player to recognize the disc. Especially that player... cause it's got a fewl modes.

cd
cd+g
vcd
dvd

I don't use the 505 for anything other than occasional cdgs. Mostly I use it for the dvd/vcd stuff. But when I do use it for the cdg, it's not "right now" so much as "queing up someone for the next song while the current one is playing".

I even have a seperate video switch that allows me to monior either the cdg or the dvd player, and queue up the appropriate song, while the current singer is happily doing their thing.

I found a wonderful travelalong tv that's only got a five " screen, along with a am/fm radio that takes video and audio input!! I wish I'd bought a second one when I saw it, cause now it's not available anymore! LOL!

I don't recommend taking the feet off of the player and screwing it to the bottom of a tray. What may happen is the player will twist (it don't take much) which may damage your discs or the player itself.

If you feel creative / brave, you can also flip the shelf and mount your player by the lid.

I don't recommend doing this but I did do this.. I took out the drill and punched 4 holes in the bottom of the tray.. not the universal raxxess..
but the reg 3 space.. for another unit.. and took sheet metal screws and screwed the feet to the bottom of the tray

Being there are units above and below each player to trap them .. they are not going anywhere and the trays were the correct depth.

If there is any space on yours.. acoustical foam works great.

Taing the feet of the JVC triple tray won't hurt it at all. I don't mount the unit with any type of screws or anything. It just sits on the bottom tray and is held down by the "trap" on top. Like I mentioned don't push the trap down toooo tight , just enough to hold it ..never had a problem
