I am considering buying this system for my home and I was wondering if anybody had any experience with it or suggestions before I do. |

My experience comes simply having sung through one four nights at a karaoke venue. For home use I would think it would be OK. It is built like a tank, but it has poor off-axis response, and the quality control doesn't appear to be good. Pyle doesn't have a real good name in Pro Audio, I don't believe. |

This is probably a silly question but what is "Off Axis response"? |

Off-axis response refers to the sensitivity to positioning, i.e. the difference in frequency response based upon where the mic is pointed. If you look at high-quality microphones, they are very consistent in their performance, i.e. the pattern is regular and predictable. If you are an experienced singer who has sung with a lot of different equipment, you have no doubt seen the phenomenon of singing into a microphone and not getting what you expect. Really experienced singers can even subconsciously position a mic based on what they hear (presuming they can hear themselves well enough). That is why I love seeing a Shure, Sennheiser, Audix, or EV microphone when I sing. I am very confident I know what it does, and I don't have to go through those moments of trying to figure out what the mic is doing. In the case of cheap microphones, you sometimes can't even tell from mic to mic because they will be different. |

Thank you for the explanation. I was guessing it was something similar but I wanted to be sure. I certainly wouldn't mind having a set of Shure mics in my home, but the price tag might be just a little too much for my personal use. Still, that is something to definitely keep in mind should I ever go pro. ![]() |
