Hey everyone, I'm just starting up the karaoke scene in my small town again. About three years ago, I was a house KJ for two different local taverns. I had all of my own CDG's,(close to 750) I have since sold them not thinking I was going to be doing karaoke again. I have put about $1000 back into building up my library of music for myself to take to the shows with me. The bar owner is wanting to purchase a number discs as well. So anyway, my question is I have a weird sense of music for myself I don't have alot of songs that are performed by alot of the locals around here (they are a little bit country, i'm alot rock n roll). I plan on having the bar owner purchase about $2000 worth of cds, however I need to know what are the most commonly played songs, which older songs are still popular? Also, If he purchases packs with christian songs in them, do you like I have to put thoses songs in the book? I know for a fact noone will ever sing any of the songs.

Thank you everyone for your comments in advance. I truly appreciate them.

There are not a lot of "Christian" songs in regular rock sets.   Just list them.  There will only be a few.   No biggy.

There are lots of songs listed in other threads that just won't go away.   They will be played forever.

If i could get every bar owner to buy $2000 worth of discs that would be great.   That's a good idea.   Get them to buy the songs their customers want to sing. :dancin:

I just started up again and purchased a Super Cdg player with 3 discs included with over 3700 songs! Was a great deal at $399.00. A lot easier then lugging around all those discs. I had my first night last Sat. and it went great. The only thing is when you have to switch between the 3 discs, the loading takes a little longer. The Super Cdg player also has a Usb port, if I can figure out how to get the songs on an external Hard drive it should solve that problem.

Super CDG's are great in concept, however you are literally sticking all your eggs in one basket.  Discs do get scratched & I tell you i'd personally rather lose a disc of 15 songs than a disc with 1200 songs - just food for thought.
