Post subject:  Hooking up a Subwoofer to Powered Mixer

I am planning on purchasing a powered subwoofer, probably the B-52 ACT-18X Active 18" 1200W Subwoofer to hook up to a Yamaha EMX 312 SC powered mixer. The sub has XLR balanced inputs, I was wondering what would be the best way to hook this combo up, that way I can order the proper cable in case we don't have it. We are running Peavy PV 215 speakers.

Also if anyone has any opinions on this subwoofer, reviews seem to be good, but I would feel better about this possible purchase if I had a first hand opinion.

The mixer works well now that we have had a chance to feel it out a bit. I just want to add some punch to these speakers and this seemed like the easiest answer. Thanks in advance!

Hook it up to the Main outputs on the front of the mixer.  When both channels are connected to the subs inputs, the sub will sum both channels into a mono signal crossed over at 120hz..

You'll need 2 tip/sleeve 1/4" phone plug to an XLR male.

i think you sould try a sonic maxamizer first, a lot less money, and beleave me it can drop your low  bass way down in the base boost mode
i use a behreinger unit in my live band set up and you can rattel picthers off the wall if you want to, and im useing nady 15inch  600 watt  pa speakers
