On all of these players???

I own/use the Gemini Cdx-02G and love it. One player started acting up after 1-1/2 years of playing, I sent back to the company...they repaired it and I'm back in business. I have a triple tray for back up, so I added borrowed a 2nd triple tray from my uncle until I got the dual deck back. Although the triple tray is the best, most reliable out there, it is just not fast enough to keep up when having to do ANY djing, need two. The dual desk loading speed and play time, can't be beat. I see your point and your right about having 1 piece of equipment to rely on. Any ideas on the best karaoke players on the market now? A lot of the brands that were around when I started are no longer made. Buying something used does not appeal to me.

Ok so now I have to ask what program do you favor I have used pcdj/kj and it seemed pretty cool do you use a latop or a regular computer or some kind of rackmount computer case? Hope you don't mind all of my questions.

With laptops, if you buy 2, 1 for a spare, you have a spare everything. From the screen to the operating system. Just like having 2 players. Use external hard drives for the music and have a back up. Light weight, battery backup.

If you buy good laptops with the upgraded video and sound cards from the beginning, you won't have to upgrade later.

Why would you ever have to upgrade the processor? Get one that is fast enough from day one. It won't slow down as it gets older...

A good video card and sound card won't need upgraded either. CD+Gs aren't going to get anymore complicated.

Fill the memory up and you have no upgrade issues, ever. You'll wear it out before you have to upgrade anything.

Has anyone used a Vocopro cdg 8800 dual tray player? I was thinking about getting one. I have seen others by Numark and Amercian Audio and Gemini. Any thoughts on these players? I also do d/j gigs and like the option of rack mount hardware. I have seen several postings here on bad Vocopro players but nothing specific. I am currently using a Vocopro CDG3000 that I have had for 10 years It still works fine but I really want to put a small rack case together for my equipment. yes I still use cd/cdg's thought about digital but I guess im still old school. Any ideas or reviews would be helpful. Thanks Kuel

I wouldn't use them if they paid me & gave me the products. Reliability issues are the biggest complaints then graphic issues being number 2.

If you only buy one and it has a repair shop issue, you will have nothing to play with.

Everyone falls into the same trap. Forget about buying 99% of the stuff sold on these karaoke sites. The too good to be true packages and stuff. They are made to sucker in the home user. They are not made for professional abuse. The price is too good to be true, because the product isn't. Get it? They have to unload them somehow...

Thanks for your input mr. d that was the kind of feedback I was looking for some good usefull advice from someone who has used any of these players. I was looking at the Numark model but I have seen a bunch of these for sale as factory reconditioned? That makes one wonder about the quailty of the player. I am fully open to anyones suggestions here. Thats why I posted to get the forum users advice before I buy anything. Thanks again....kuel

MrD A kj should always have 2 players anyway, not only to keep the next song cued up & ready immediately instead of the down time of loading & cue'ing (not a huge issue for the single/triple tray lines as they were pretty quick), but for back up purpose as well. I always used at least 2 players at any given time.

I would honestly scour ebay for a JVC single/triple tray machine or a Pioneer V10 dual tray as most of the stuff out today isn't worth bringing in to a club. Or go computerized & not worry about your players.

Hope you don't mind all of my questions. Programs are a complete matter of personal opinion & what will work best for you. Myself I prefer MTU Hoster, does what I need. While laptops are more portable I opted to go with a custom desktop for the main reason being upgradability, if something goes out on it I can simply replace the part myself or if I need to get something better, usually not a problem. Most laptops are pretty much locked into what you get internally.

Can't really upgrade those yourself like on a desktop, but the portability isn't as nice.

Since when can you buy one that is the best out there (maybe at that precise moment)? Once you buy it, something comes along the next week that is much better, any computer guru knows that~!

Lonnie, I haven't upgraded my SHOW computer since I got it. My home ones, yes... but when you're just playing karaoke files, music files, video... once you have it set right, you don't need to continually upgrade it!
