![]() Compuhost does all of that except the book. It does output a listing file in a format that can be used by (their) book-making software. I highly recommend using Compuhost if you are going to be a working KJ that wants to run a fair rotation. It has excellent rotation management, and the singer history means you rarely have to look up songs for regulars after a few weeks of using it. If you are playing things for practice, and are at all budget-conscious, save your money. Use Winamp with the MP3+G and Pacemaker plugins, or perhaps MTU Hoster LIte. I don't think Compuhost is very good for practicing, and I use the programs I mentioned for that. |

Have you tried the Full Screen mode in CompuHost? I have one show that is a solo show, I do all of the singing for a couple of hours, and the full-screen mode is perfect! Simply press CTRL-F to activate it within Compuhost and check it out. tbreen |

I have gotten spoiled by MTU Hoster and its 1) ability to run multiple copies, and 2) playlist saving. I will look at it, but I am guessing that I will probably stick with Hoster for practice. I have to use it for something now that I don't use it for shows! |

The only thing Compuhost will not do is make and print songbooks for you. You will have to purchase a program from them called Fast Tracks to do that, or you can purchase KJ Pro or Music Book Deluxe to do it (other songbook programs). Note if you purchase Compuhost and Fast Tracks together there is a significant discount on Fast Tracks. I think its like $30-$40 savings! You must do buy both at the same time as they will not offer that deal later. MTU Hoster Full Version (Not Lite) will do everything you need and will create and print songbooks for you. The Hoster Lite version the last time I checked did not do the books. Both are excellent programs! I have 2 systems that use MTU Video Hoster Pro (latest version available) and I have a Third system that I use Compuhost. I have done hundreds of shows over the past 4.5 years with MTU Hoster with no problems whatsoever, as for Compuhost I have done like 15 shows and really like it now. Compuhost is more feature rich than any programs I have seen out there and for the professional KJ it's tops in my book....but you may not need all those features if you are not doing commercial gigs. Initially I found Compuhost to be a bit cumbersome and was a little more difficult to run out of the box, on the other hand MTU Hoster is very easy and requires little knowlege of the program to run after the songs are imported. Once the learning curve with Compuhost is over (about 5-8 gigs) it is very easy to operate. My advice is download the trial versions of both and see what works best for you! I hope this helps you! |
