I decided to use my laptop for a player. What is the best software? Do I need a mixer? And what are good quality microphones, speakers, amp and what wattage should I get for a group of 60 outdoors? I have purchased Sound Choice CD’s. |

Yes a mixer is a great help, probably a necesity. I would go with at least two sure SM 58s for mics. To run the rotation/songs I would go with Compuhost it has all the features you need including many you dont know you need yet. As for speakers, amp and sound I am not really an expert in the outdoor situation, but probably you will need to spend a lot. For indoors you could go with a pair of powered SRM350 speakers from mackie for a crowd that size, but for outdoors you probably need more power. |

If you don't want to spend the approx. $180 asking price of compuhost try JustKAraoke from tricerasoft. to import the Sound Choice library, you need a ripper. For this I suggest Power Karaoke's CDG burner as it gives you the best rips with the most drives on the market. For the sum total of $64 you can be up and running in no time. But that is just my opinion. Oh yeah almost forgot you need songlist software. The best out there for computer karaoke is Fast Tracks made by the makers of Compuhost. |

for tech questions, it's probably better to go to the TECH forum! Click the "all Forums" link, and go from there. |

I note that you are using Just Karaoke as your hosting program. Tell me, can you change the speed of the song as well as the key? Also, can you print a song list from that program? |

why would printing a song list from the playing program be that important? To me, that's only for folks that don't get their stuff a disc at a time, but instead, buy a huge collection, say from E-bay hard drive sellers, and have NO clue as to their songs. After my first 150 discs, all bought at the same time, mine were ten here, twelve there, a single here, a couple from over there... all of which I was able to input into my Excel spreadsheet initally and then finally into my Access database. |
