Many karaoke web sites give a very detailed  description of services and how good they are.  You read the about us and still don't have a clue where they are Can you tell us where you are?

I re-enlisted for 4 years in a deal to get transferred from the east coast to the west coast. I wanted to go down there but the captain of the ship put in a special request to transfer me back so I went back to the same ship I'd been on for 2years.

I'm sorry sir, could you repeat the question please?  :D

Are you meaning where WE are, or where the owners of the SITE are based?

I'm still here in Hicktown;)

And hey DJ Tuck, I used to live in Olympia long ago. (it's been about 15 years or so) I'm not too far south of you, about 1 & 1/2 hours or so. (a bit south of PDX)

Nice to see another newbie from the west coast.

Of course you know "where they are".  The phone number has an area code, and I've yet to see people advertise totally omitting location..  What am I not understanding about this question Ollie ?

Post subject:  Re: Where?

In all phases of advertising production when promoting a business the three most important ingredients are Services, Location and Phone Number. Through web rings I have loaded web sites that are very well presented and show venues with schedules and without even telling you what town they are in. Don't have a clue where they are or how to get there.

Post subject:  Re: Where?

I am guilty on this one. most of my traffic is gained by local advertising , or by seeing my show. I am not really worried about telling people where i live. addresses for my venues are on the schedule if somebody looks. im willing to travel in a pretty big area, much larger than anyone has ever had an interest in booking.

Post subject:  Re: Where?

 I never tell people where I live or my phone number. I had business cards at one time with my fiancee's phone number on them to weed out the people who weren't really interested in booking. That was even a nightmare. I am not looking for any new bookings right now so I'm not advertising at all. There is no need to put a phone number out there. Thank goodness !

LMAO Why in the  hell would I spend $200 dollars a year on a web site and not even tell you where we do it???

Post subject:  Re: Where?

I dont have any issue with my number out there. I get a call once in a while about new gigs. I also get calls or text messages asking where we are at or if we have a show for the night from singers who like our show.

Ollie, you should look into hosting companys. My good friend is a co owner of the one I work with, but I know you could get yours MUCH cheaper. another thing that can get expensive with your website is the domain name. watch for domain companys who try to convert you over, charging $50 for a two year contract, just for your domain is BS. (I got one of these in the mail last week)

After three servers I finally got bluehost They even have online chat tech support. It is one of the best and popular now. The $200 reflects  the software which I just added.. It is $95/year. (Almost $200/year for both) $178.40

LMAO Of course you need a way for people to get a hold of you to book a show.

If I do decide that I want more business I'll probably buy a seperate cell phone for it.

If you've ever dealt with a karaoke stalker you'd understand why.

I used my fiancee's cell phone number last time and he would get obscene phone calls about me. Being a woman does have its draw backs when trying to run a business.

DO NOT post your number on your web site..  That is the advantage of 3rd party software. With the instant message feature under Contact on my web I am a phone call away.

Post subject:  Re: Where?

I do not post my number on the website. I have gotten emails from potential customers. all understand why I do not have the phone number on the web. My newspaper ads DO have my number in them, but not my last name. I have not recieved any harrassing phone calls from this YET. unfortunately I have to agree babs, there are a LOT of whackjob guys out there.
