He wrote some great songs.

This hit me hard.  I'm a member of his site, last I'd heard about 1.5 years back his prostate cancer was in remission,  in fact at one point he'd thought they'd gotten all traces of the cancer.  The guy was an artistic genius, not just music but painting too.. He did his early album covers.. Last I'd heard he was in Arizona doing smaller gigs with his wife also a musician.  Souvenirs, Too the Morning,  Theme from half mountain were gorgeous..
