Post subject:  Bbe 482
i just got this bbe 482; where does this go in the system? i got a mixer with bulit in effects... i'm also planning to get external effect unit, an eq...... i'm using powered  speakers.  many thanks!

If your mixer has main inserts, then I would put it there.  Otherwise it will go inline between mixer & powered speakers.

What about if you are running mono for mains, with a single sub, through a crossover? Does it go between the mixer and the crossover?

I should add, where also in relation to the EQ? Is it:

         Mixer Mono out --> EQ --> BBE --> Crossover --> Amp --> Mains
                                                                                                  Amp --> Sub


Or something a bit different?

Typically it would run last in the line before the crossover so your diagram is right.  Again, if the mixer has main inputs, this is where I prefer to insert it.

No, no inserts -- it's a Behringer PMH3000. I will actually be using it with the internal amp (via the power amp insert) and PR-10s and PR-15sub for small venues like a home party. The Peavey PR10s seem bass-poor by themselves, but boy it sounds nice with the sub in place. The sub only weighs 30 pounds, and the speakers 20 apiece. Their sound is quite comparable to my 15" mains, which each weigh 62 pounds.

I will be interested to see the effect of the BBE.

For a larger venue, I will use B212A active speakers for the mains, and power the sub with the bridged output of the mixer's amp.

The first setup underpowers the sub just a tad (225W into 8 ohms) and the second overpowers it a bit, (600W into 8 ohms), with a program rating of 300W or 400W depending on which manual you consult. But I would think this is not too bad.

The way I understand it is if you are using the EQ to flatten a room ,IE by using pink noise to calibrate the room, then the BBE would be after the EQ. If you are using the EQ to alter the sound for example by boosting or diminishing certain frequencies to change the characteristics of what you are hearing, then the BBE would be before the EQ. Keep in mind their is no definitive right or wrong way, but what I described previously is what is recommended by BBE.

Seems to me that would be a good place to start!
