Didn't search to see if this had been posted before but I was just curious.
I unfortunately wasn't there but my bar had Blake Shelton and Keith Anderson come out monday after a concert in ocala. The KJ at the time apparently didn't treat them well which led to his dismissal and my promotion from 3 to 5 nights a week.
I just wondered if anyone else had ever had the opportunity to have a real honest to god famous musician do karaoke with them?

Nothing to brag about, know tons of local musicians from the Seattle area (some were known from the 90's grunge era, but would rather remain in cognito when they come in), Ronnie Munroe & the late David Wayne from Metal Church & Geoff Tate of Queenryche, the sax player from the old Nu Shooz Band (I Can't Wait).

this past summer A country act that was popular about 10 years ago did a show in town on a thursday, for our local music festival. my friend does a show every thursday and one of our mutual friends is a huge fan of the band and managed to get them out to karaoke after. I was not out, and they do not have much for photos but I heard from several people that it was really cool. My friend is the singer / guitar player in a really popular local group and I suspect he may not have liked not being the center of attention. in reality most try to ignore him

Every 2 years the company I work for sends us to College Station here in Texas for the A & M fire training school. Well a few years ago when we were up there, about 10 or 12 of us go to this little hole in the wall bar on Tuesday called Cowboys and do some karaoke, usually I'm the only one that sings.
It's an older crowd, at least for a college town anyways, so one night I had done a few songs and afterwards this tall guy comes up and says " Hey man you sing pretty good " he then asks me if I want to do a song with him. I had heard him do some Bad Company earlier and he had done it really well so I said I sing with him. We did an Eagles song and afterwards he gave me a big hug ( bout broke my neck! ) and said thanks. Now I am 6' 3" and about 230 and this guy was definitely taller than me and wirey and strong.
A good friend of mine was standing at the bar while I was singing with this guy and the girl who was with the guy I was singing with tells him " you know who that is your friend is singing with? " he tells her no, and she said thats Doug Supernaw.
He was a genuinely nice guy, just there to have some fun, didn't sing any of his own songs ( and yes they had some ) did rock songs really well and didn't do any country. He's had some problems in his past but he actually seemed really nice. Went out of his way to compliment me and didn't really seem to want for anyone else to know who he was. yeah I know his glory days are behind him, but that was the only story I had! I rarely get star struck because I believe we all put our pants on one leg at a time and I certainly wasn't star struck that night, but we ended up hanging with him all night just because we were having a good time.
We did a few more songs together and I was really impressed on how well he could sing the higher range rock songs. Turned out to be a pretty fun night. So anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Dokken had a show here in lil old Victoria and the night before their show Don Dokken showed up at the Holidays Inn lounge bar ( apparently that's where he was staying ) and hung out there, and yes they had karaoke going on that night. He didn't sing but they said he clapped for people and was pretty much just having a few drinks and hanging out.
I met Don at a concert in Austin when I went to see Scorpions, Whitesnake and Dokken, he came and sat with us and watched the other bands, pretty cool dude. Met Coverdale also but he was not quite as nice, just seemed a bit arrogant.

judging by the guys that were in my bar.. hell yeah they do
it was so cool... shame i wasn't kj'ing so I could have treated them right... but then again....
If I'd have been there i wouldn't have had a KJ get fired to make me the man at this bar working 5 of 7 nights instead of just 3 nights.

About a couple of months ago our regular Tuesday gig was cancelled for a night while Trooper (the Canadian party band) played. The next week they came back to our show and I got to sing "We're Here For A Good Time" with lead singer and frontman Ra Maguire. They were great and did duets with a number of our singers. The are truly a pary band.
We sang off the Karaokemaker Trooper disc and they were very impressed with the renditions. Karaokemaker wanted to re-issue the disc but couldn't because the powers to be wanted too much. I asked Ra about it and he said unfortunately it was out of the band's hands, even though they want it to happen. In fact they wanted a copy of the disc but it had sold out almost immediately. So if your favourite song isn't out on karaoke, don't always blame the artist.

A couple places I go have had the occasional Celeb...Matthew Perry came into a karaoke bar I was hanging out at one night. Haven't seen him myself yet, but I understand Jack Black occasionally shows up at another place I go.
A few years ago, I was helping a friend out with a show, and a guy came up to my friend and said "My buddy used to tour with Miss Saigon. He's really nervous, but would you sing a Miss Saigon duet with him?" She said "I don't really sing that, but my friend, does...I'll ask her." So the guy tips us $20 to sing with his friend - I'd have sung with him regardless, but this guy is acting like it'd be a huge favour. The guy gets up, I'm guessing he was just in the chorus or something since he appears to be kind of nervous and insecure, and the way his buddy was asking if I'd sing with him kind of gave me the impression I shouldn't expect him to be all that good. *lopsided grin* I make nice reassuring small talk with him....we start singing "Last Night of the World." Boy can SING! I'm a little surprised, and he appears to be a little surprised by me since I knew the harmonies and show riffs...no one bothered to introduce us...it wasn't 'til we were leaving that someone mentioned I had been singing with Eric Kunze! He was Marius in Les Mis on tour and Broadway, Chris in Miss Saigon tour and Broadway, and most recently, replaced Sebastian Bach as Jesus on the tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.

I believe Elvis made a few appearances, but that's about it.
That's really cool you had some celebs and they didn't think karaoke was beneath them. They actually realized it is for fun. A lot of the time when I get area celebs they act as if their crap don't stink and make wierd demands. They don't get the concept of karaoke.

![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) Years ago when I very first started doing karaoke, the place I went videotaped your "performance" if you wanted. Even if you didn't want a video, they'd leave the camera on so your performance showed up on the TV screens. There was a guy who looked kinda like Elvis and sang Elvis songs who always insisted the camera be off before he sang...Hmmm....maybe he WAS Elvis?

There used to be a guy who did Neal Diamond songs at colleges and bars all around Milwaukee and Chicago with his wife who did Patsy Cline. There were known as Thunder and Lightning. I was in a contest and he was a judge and as I was going back to my car, he came out and followed me to tell me he was very impressed with what I did and that I should do what he does. I also did a duet of No Woman No Cry with Fabrice Movan, a singer who was one of the faces of Milli Vanilli (hearing snickers all over the web) OK OK, I know, but this guy can really sing.

In going through karaoke pages on Myspace, I saw one with pics of Vince Neil singing somewhere. I could be one of the straightest guys to karaoke with Pansy Divison. Me & my friend did "Don't You Want Me" as a boy-boy song while my girlfriend giggled.

Never had celebrities come into any of my gigs, but I was at a karaoke bar (Maxwell's) in Lincoln City, Oregon (Oregon Coast Town) about 4 years ago and I was singing and the next thing I know I had a backup singer join me. A silver haired gentleman with a gray beard wearing a black leather jacket and a blue jeans and rose colored glasses. The vocals were very good so I did not mind this person assisting me. After I finished the song I shook they guys hand and thanked him for the excellent backup. I went back to my seat and never really gave it another thought.
I took my next song slip up a few minutes later and the KJ introduces me to the phantom backup singer. It was one of the guys from "The Beach Boys" I guess he came in to see his friend (the KJ) after they finished their concert at the Chinook Winds Casino in town. Heck I didn't even know they were in town that weekend..
Afterwards I spoke with the KJ about him and He has been close friends with this guy for like 20 years. It seems this guy loves to sing karaoke and likes to come into the bar whenever they come into town (once every 5yrs or so). He likes singing a few with the locals and having fun. It's also a place where he draws no attention as he looks like one of the tourists.
You just never know who you are gonna run into in a karaoke bar ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif)
