upon further review.... Kaplan had one last word in yesterday on a thread..the management apologizes for the inconvieniance it may have caused or panic that may have ensued..managemaent also apologizes for not spelling inconvieniance right (or did he  ) i say we still find Kappy and pants him just for being difficult !

About as easily as chemistry and linear algebra, this is tough, it's abstract, being an instrumentalist although a LITTLE of a help for sone concepts, is no help with learning how to "play my voice"... Since I can't perceive it as it "is"; I'm just doing, and doing and doing, and as I walk this blind-walk, I start to figure out means and clues (either that or I'm becoming more deluded) yet I never know how and when something will "click", it happens when it happens..(just like my sex life with myself).. Sorry for being so abstract, but here's the thing.. I'm a visual person, I rely on hearing, and seeing to assimilate, and replicate... Since I am unable to hear myself AT ALL without total prejudice slanted AGAINST my voice... This is like a blind-walk.. BUT... I love it ! I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm just doing as I'm told be those who have obvious singing talent.. and trusting them as my ears.. If that makes any sense... Searching for mysteries without any clue... |

Keith, PM.. I won't do showcase. I don't want that environment for me.. I want brutal and total honesty. Initially I just wanted total honesty, I'm at a point now where I want BRUTAL honesty, reason being.. Even if the best I can do is third backing vocals in a musical setting, I'd be quite happy with that. I JUST want to know where I really can get with this stuff.. I never had expectation of achieving "front singer" in a top band status.. but I really want to be able to sing someplace... and not sing "Karaoke".. Really sing.. I'm here for singers, not Karaoke.. Karaoke is just a tool so I can learn to sing |

Stop working at it. It's singing, it ain't work..Your parents ain't listening and they won't judge, but your friends will listen and hear you. singing ain't a job or standard or anything to be judged against. Singing is from the heart-just like when we speak and we inject emotion in our voice when we want someone to understand and feel what we feel. Pick a song that describes how you feel and then sing it like you feel it. Better yet, write your own. A guy with 11K+ posts on a karaoke site has lots to say/sing.....Huh? Yep, you sure do. I love you buddy. I want to hear your heart in your voice, and I don't want to hear any fear of rejection there. You are in a safe place. Every man's a cowboy, and every man's a hero, and every man's a singer....and every man has a right to take up space on this Earth and sing his song loudly. |

Keith, here's the problem I've run into with singing. I DO pick songs I like, and royally botch them until I hear them on tape.. For some reason, I have a tough time understanding that my moussy falsetto doesn't pass for higher register rock power tenor.. What I thought I was doing while singing Brad Delp (Boston) turned out sounding like Big bird with clogged sinuses.. I do need help with this.. BUT, the fear is leaving.. Not sure this is a good thing tho

brad delp? holy macaroni kapster, i wouldnt attemp delp if you paid me..noone, and i mean noone can do delp...you gotta start off with someone easy like whitney housten or celine dion ...then work your way up to the master..seriously dude i agree with keith, as hard as it is you gotta let go with the analyzations and just have fun with it..have you ever been at a party and sang happy birthday, or a hymn at church....KAPPY do not hijack this thread and turn it into a discussion of the church vs state...hehehe...stay on point....anyways, did you hold up the birthday party or postpone it till you could learn how to sing it perfect? no , you sang it and so did 20 others with you and you didnt give it a second thought that you were singing, all you could think about was if your friend blew hard enough maybe the flame from the candles would ignite that other kid that you hated's hair on fire..you are a very intelligent guy kap and the problem might be that you have met a rare challenge in a quest for learning..you are certainly used to mastering facts and logic on any subject in a quick amount of time but music is a different beast..its a different challenge..it doesnt come easy to you and that sucks dont it..thats what makes music the most beautiful gift god (kappy no hijack) has given us..it is here for anyone to do it..it has many peramenters and levels but not one rule or boundry..it is limitless and it is for any person..noone owns the right and power to sing..noone learns it and is any different than the shower singer..sure the critic in us will giggle at a bad note or a timing issue, but the truth is is that we all enjoy music in this world and we all own it..so pony up dawg, pick a song that you like so much it fills your heart just singing it whether it is good or not, and enjoy the gift of creation..if delps is what you want and it kills you to not be as skilled with his range, find a simple program that changes pitch but not tempo (these are really cool cause untill computers came around it was imposible to lower pitch without slowing down tempo) lower the pitch and sing it again..one cool thing i learned that a lot of people dont realize is that when you drink water to hydrate your vocal chords, the water does not affect them from the outside..it takes hours after your drink for the water to hydrate the chords from "within" cool huh ?

I'm going to do Delp later today. I've been singing for over two weeks and have no excuse for not being a "10".. (rolling over and going back to sleep, funniest dreams I've been having). Real men don't do Whitney, we do Britney ! |
