My fiancee just reminded me that the day before Thanksgiving is the biggest bar night of the year. I completely forgot. So if you have a gig on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving look out. I'm just glad it won't be a full moon on top of it. LMAO Last year I remember staying 2 extra hours than usual which made it tough the next day because I had a 4 hour drive to see family for Thanksgiving. Aaarg! |

Yes, this is very true! To make matters even worse, for this week and next I have to get my hours so I can take Friday off each week. So I'm working longer all over the place. Thurs/Fri/Sat this week & then back for Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat next week. It's going to be a long 10 or so days.....MrD |

Even bigger then New Years Eve now-adays ? I know this was the case when the drinking age was 18, local HS kids home from college (especially freshman and sophomores) as well as family gathering would reunite looking for a place to :hang:, I wonder if this still holds true with the 21 drinking age in terms of younger crowd meeting at bars, that as I recall was a huge draw in many areas since HS seniors and College freshman were usually 18 and loved the bars. The biggest group were local kids home from school, and of course family getting together and going out.. Perhaps it is a bigger night than New Years Eve. I'm curious |

Yup Kappy, it's been that way as long as I can remember. Lots of folks go to private parties for New Year's so it can take away from bar biz. Thanksgiving Eve however: almost everyone has Thanksgiving off, therefore no need to get up early for work, have a toast with friends because most are with families, etc etc etc. Yup Yup Yuppers, the night before Thanksgiving is the BIGGEST bar night of the year. |

it is odd too that it is eazy to get double or tripple your normal pay on NYE yet the bars are stingy when it comes to turkey eve and its tough to make an extra hundred. same on halloween weekend being a close third and only cause its sometimes spread over 2 weekends. and always over two nights. |

The night before Thanksgiving is a BIG bar night --usually for the YOUNG COLLEGE KIDS who are home for the holiday break. Us older folks still consider NEW YEARS EVE the Biggest night |

Jam, Not sure how it is in Jersey, but another factor might be that up here in CT the cops don't set up the number of random check points looking for DUI busts Thanksgiving, yet New Years Eve they go wild with those. Those things do have a way of crimping a persons partying style somewhat :( I suppose people up here don't enjoy starting off their New Year hopping up and down on one leg, while following backwards down a solid line while also having to recite the alphabet sideways (to a couple of snickering cops); (Or something similar) ![]() |

Definately bigger than NYE. Cat hit it on the head. A lot of people will go to private parties for NYE or have parties at home because they don't want to drive after drinking. |
