I recently bought an Alesis Multimix 8USB mixer to sing online with. I can't get the onboard effects to work. Does anyone use this mixer? If so, how do you have it hooked up and how do you get the effects to work? I'm new to all this, so any help would be appreciated.    Thx,   Ray

Just FYI, it might help if you provided a link to the product so the techies can look at the hardware you are looking at.  They most likely don't use this board but they will be able to help you out with a link to the specs and product information... thanks and good luck with your question...

For the effects to work, you not only have to have a non-zero level on the post-fader  Aux send (B) for your microphone channel, you have to have the level on the Effects/Aux B above zero. The higher the level on those two knobs, the more signal is sent to the effects engine.

If you use the 1 effect and just speak into the mic, and route the signal to a loudspeaker of some type, you should definitely hear some echo.

Hello thar!!!!

I do have one of those mixers.

1. first of all you have to turn the knob in the area that has the digital display window. You will see the numbers...when you get to one you like you have to PRESS that button. you will notice there is a teeny tiny dot to the lower right of the number. when it is selected....the dot goes away.

2. the "effects/aux ret b Level" knob determines how much of that effect is allowed in the mix

3. The "aux b" on each input determines how much of the pre-determined effect goes into each individual output

Does that maked sense.....I hope so

yeppers faith is correct when you dial up an effect using the nob you then have to depress it to get it to work. then there is a coloured nob on your mic channel
hmmm best go look at mine...its the red (maroon, claret) one. that controls how much effect you hear

good luck with your recording :)

Yes, and I like to use effect number 64 all the time on my Alesis.  I leave the main Effect Volume Level in the middle most of the time and have the effect on the microphone in the middle for normal, a click or two above middle for thick reverb, and a click or two below middle for less reverb.
