if i wanted to use my laptop to place a karaoke cdg  cd in my cd player to download to a file in my computer to exprt to an external drive how do i make sure that the grapics will transfer  also ,or how do i go through the right process please!

the karaoke cdg has a subfile that plays the graphics. Not all cdrom burners/drives play that code. Laptops about half the time don't have the right one.

So the first thing you gotta have is the appropriate burner.

you can't just take ANY laptop and do this. Nine outta ten times you have to get a laptop that's setup to DO these things, and not the other way around.

I use audiograbber (free) to rip the karaoke cdgs. most folks like to use some kind of compressing technology... I like the LAME_ENC.dll file, and it's free to download from the web. I personally use winamp to play the mp3+g files.

i am still learning about this software program ,I am wondering if the rip and zip kjamp progam that came with the roxbox softeare would do this  ?. and thankyou for the info on the right kind of burner or download but is the audio grabber legal?

yup audiograbber is very legal but the downside is you have to install the lame codec so as you get a decent bitrate. Once installed however its great. But tak Knight's advice, discover if your laptops cdrom is cdg compatible otherwise you will not be able to rip

KB, just because your laptop may not have the right hardware, doesn't mean you can't do it. It means you have to get the drive and either install it, or get an external usb case, and install the new drive in THAT...
