I have two of these, and they seem to scratch easily. Is there a way to back these up?
I thought at one point CAVS had it on thier site, but even the decoder program on thier site doesnt work. Are we seeing the end of Super CDGs?

I never really saw them as a viable format for pro use, too many eggs in one basket, if it scratches, that's a lot of songs gone.  Regular cdg scratched you're out maybe 8-15 songs.
Someone else will have to help on the backing up of them, I heard there is a way, but can't find the thread.

Hi,

Backing Up a SCDG Disc Is Simple. It's merely a DATA Disc.
1. Load SCDG Disc into DVD Drive
2. From my computer - Open DVD Drive
3. "Drag and Drop" the Entire CAVS_MCG Folder
into Nero Burning ROM or any DVD burning software
and Burn a DL DVD Data Disc.

NEVER USE THE ORIGINAL DISC!!!

The CAVS_MCG Folder consist of Dat Files:
cvmd00001.dat
cvmd00002.dat
cvmd00003.dat
etc.....

Inside the Dat files are: Paired .mcg + .mp3 files!
If you Need to Replace or Repair Tracks...
Use CDGFix 3.4a
No Coder, Decoder, or Converter Needed.

I had a friend who used cavs. The disks never got scratched because he was careful but the center plastic around the hole stated to wear out on the disk from repeated use and some began to crack there.

I looked elsewhere for a format, besides they are limited in their selection compared to other formats.

Thanks everyone!!! As for cracking in middle.....its probably an illegal copy. I worked with company that illegally made these, and thats what happened to all most all of them. Quick way to see.....check original case and cd its self......is karaoke misspelled?

Do you mean SCDG Tracks are limited? I'm learning!
