I not trying to toot my horn, (at least not too much), but rather I want people to be recognized their service and committment to Karaoke... Good luck |

Hey Rodney, how are ya?? Yea I started back in 1988 stopped last year when I ended up in the hospital, but may be getting back into it again soon. I started at of all places, Dimples in Burbank. Worked 5 to 7 nights a week steady for about 7 years, then cut down to 3. Dont miss it as much as I thought I would, but i will always have respect for this Industry and the people who gave it recognition like you and several others did. Great KJ's like Candace Klewer, Don and Melena, Faye and Tony, Barbara Lazar, you of course, Lori Hallie, Travis, Lee Bolton, Robin Sanford, Manny Pacheco, Peter Parker, and so many more KJ's, all of these names by the way have been in this business 15 years or longer. They helped establish the Karaoke foundation that has led, up to where we are today. If it weren't for those who set the stage for Karaoke, the Karaoke that we have today, would not have been given its chance to grow. I have appreciated every one of the shows I have ever hosted, and all the singers who have sung at them. I know that Karaoke has a future. I cant wait to see where it goes from here. MV |

To long LMAO I stopped counting years to tell the truth. I'm lucky if I can remember my birth date let alone when I started karaoke. All I know is I started with 1 night a week and went to 3 steady nights shortly after. Three nights a week is enough for me. I've been offered more, but usually stick to that unless it's a special occasion. |

I have been hosting karaoke since 89. I started working with a company because we both had systems set up. We were booking shows & continued buying systems. In 91, we eventually split off dividing the company which left us with 5 systems each, he went North & I went South in our area. Worked pretty steady had 3 systems working at minimum 5 nights a week, had 8 other hosts that worked with us as well, 4 went with me 4 went with my partner. About 97 business started slowing with the advent of pirated systems. Started selling off systems about 2000, 2003 quit all club work entirely still have 2 systems that work fairly regular for private parties. |

I've been hanging around Karaoke for about 10 years, started buying personal music about 5 years ago. I hosted a private party with some friends equipment. Then a business opp became available about 2-1/2 years ago....I purchased this set of equipment and also expanded my music collection. Took about 6mths preparing and learning before I started Djing & Karaokeing a party here and there. I've been DJoking (almost, except for ones I had to take off) every weekend for a year. I've been at a handful of bars filling in, a few steady one. I did a handful of weddings and private parties. I am currently at a bar that I've been at for over 4mths, every Fri & also many Saturdays, working on another place for Saturday's instead. Got plenty of calls coming in for weddings and private parties for next year. My calendar is as full as I can stand, I work full time Mon-Fri 40-50hrs, plus coach baseball and help with other kid stuff. I can't do no more. I'm still working out the bugs and learning new stuff everyweek and preparing for the long haul....MrD |

got into hosting part time at my local hangout in 1996... started my own company a year later. went into an association with my buddy Dave of CDEntertainment of Portland, OR, and worked with him for a couple years. Then branched off on my own again after that. Hooked up with Tig during that last year, and worked with him for a few years after that. I basically am still in the business, but with my regular job, can't work the gigs now... I've sold off my triple trays and pioneer dvds... if the right opportunity comes along, I'll get back into karaoke hosting, but for now, I'm just a singer! |

Here's a story for you, I'm pretty sure I started in 86, I'm not sure if SC had even released it's first disc's. Started with DK, 1-99 that's all you needed, Through the course of then till now I have done as many as 75 to 90 regular weekly show with as many as 22 hosts. At one time I had 30 systems now down to 22 or so. Got very tired during the 3 or 4 years of huge number of shows and now only do 40 to 50 a week. Karaoke has been bery, bery good to me and it will continue to do so for a very long time. |

I started "guest hosting" karaoke about 1993, filling in for a local KJ who took occasional vacations. I started doing occasional private parties with equipment on loan, and started "my own" show back in 1996. That show lasted about 4 years. I stopped for about 2 years. Then an opportunity came up where a local venue's host left for another place, and they didn't know what to do. I offered to take over, and stayed in that location for a year and a half. and while still at that venue, I was offered another job... I've been here for about 3 1/2 years... so I guess that means I've been doing this for 5 years non-stop, but altogether I've been hosting about 7 years, plus occasional gigs. <phew> I'm tired! |

I started doing karaoke in 1986 or 87. With only cassettes. Music Maestro, Sound Choice, the old American Accomplament Tracks, some off the wall others. We typed out our song books, our requet forms were blank business card stock. We typed out the song lyrics. I had an old Peavey powered head PA, and two column speakers with 4 10's in each column. I did it at an old neighborhood bar called "Pop-A-Top" bar, for tips and all i could guzzle. Made about $50 a night, on a good night. Did it a couple times a month. Then went to lasar, then CD+G's.....ah....the good old days. |
