Steven, According to the guy who was busted in Apache Junction, he paid 60,000 dollars to settle that before it went to court and I was told that by him so don't call me a liar. He might be one, but don't know why he would lie about that. He is still here in town and uses only original disc's to this day.

I've read your posts in the past, and I would never call you a Liar(maybe an instigator)....but personally, I would never believe anything you say...guess I'm just strange like that.......

Working in conjunction with the NY State Police and the Monroe County Assistant District Attorney, the investigator made arrangements to meet Schneider at his residence and finalize the transaction. On January 29, 2001, Andrew Schneider completed the sale of 115 counterfeit CDGs with the private investigator. Once the CDGs were identified as counterfeit, the NY State Police arrested Schneider at his residence. He has been charged with Trademark Counterfeiting in the 3rd Degree. The trial date has not been set as of this posting. KAPA is seeking full restitution for the cost of the investigation and for lost revenue.

So why didnt they bust the detective he was the one that bought the cd's.

I'm not judging anyone.  Just asking :)   I don't know anything about this, I don't know who the parties involved are, nor do I know who you are so I'd never make such a judgment. To state anybody is a liar, would mean I'd already have to have answers. I don't have a clue.

These sentences included fines totaling $30,000, probation, cease-and-desist directives, and other settlements that are not available for public disclosure.

Here's what I don't understand.  KAPA makes the statement "That are not available for disclosure".  However certain things are public record.  Assuming an arrest is made by the police, it can be researched. Especially when a case gets to court dockets.  It's public information anyone can research.  Is there ANY trail of any of these to substantiate this article in print from a source WE can believe as credible ?
So while I'm calling nobody a liar, KAPA states "Photo's of the bust", yet I see none... They go ahead to state "Settlements not available for disclosure" but the arrests would be, as would court papers. I doubt these would be "sealed or closed" cases.  KAPA would certainly wish to make these public record.

When I try to research "Andy Schneider" and the NY case, what do I get ?  It just cross-references me back to the KAPA article I mentioned in the heading. No other record that I find, no venue name listed.  So my question essentially is, what is real, and what is scare tactic ?

In RIAA court cases part of the defendants agreement includes a gag order and they can not disclose what the amount of the compensation was.

Access to to these court results are availible on a few sites for a fee. One would have to make a written request to the local court involved and would still be charged a small processing fee.

Hypothesis If somebody was selling copied cd's on a New York city street corner would they track everybody down that bought them or concentrate on busting the seller?

Now if a bar owner had some of these cd's in his jukebox (I have put many ASCAP stickers in jukeboxes)??

I'm not talking about settlement.  Arrests and court cases ARE public record
