I'm looking to put together a strictly in-home Karaoke system. I'm just starting to gather info on how to pull it off. I've read this forum and it's a bit overwhelming.
First thought - I've got a buddy who uses the Sony MegaStorage 400 disk CD changer with a decoder for his Karaoke system. It's nice for parties because you don't have to handle the CD's - kids and intoxicated friends won't destroy the disks. Bonus - If I don't use the Karaoke that much, I figure I'll have a cool CD changer.
If I use the 400 disk changer then I'll need a decoder, and ?? what else to pull off a system. Let's try to stay in the $1,000 to $1,500 range to start out - knowing I could upgrade later.
What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are these are great for stationary systems that never get moved. Once you start moving these mega changers around, you will run into problems. Discs fall out of their perch, get jammed, trays misalign, etc. I've seen it happen first hand & and heard many horror stories from many others as well!!
