What are the odds..

So we are at the L. A. County Fair today, (Opening day, it's $1.00 admission)

and this sweet young thing jumps up on stage, and starts off with an Eagles song,

(Hotel somewhere) and after a bit, switches into Black Velvet.. then I had to leave..

But no TV, and no way to know the words.. I was shocked..  LMAO

The good news, my wife entered some needlework craft and took home a

"Best in Show" along with the Blue Ribbon..  :hi5:

congrats on the winninga!  question about the "karaoke".   was it karaoke, or was it just that girl putting on a show with karaoke backing?  it does seem VERY odd that there would be no video monitor.

It seems to me that so many karaoke singers just sing the same few songs every time that they would surely know the songs lyrics and shouldn't need a tv anyway! LMAO

Living in New Hampshire...we have tons of "Fairs" in the Fall.  Most of them have singers putting on shows using Karaoke Disc as their "invisible band" with no monitors.  Most have one person hosting and 5 or 6 other singers all doing half hour spots or so.   Yup memorize them words folks and go make some money.  We have hosted a few of those kind of shows at several Country Fairs and they... not only pay very well....but are always packed with spectators!  FUN FUN FUN

We did 'blind' karaoke contests where the singer was blindfolded.  It was very fun, except we had a rule, once you won with a particular song, you could no longer use that song anymore.  Once everyone won with the songs they knew, people quit entering.

I wish I could memorize songs. That's why karaoke is a godsend to me. I cannot memorize anymore. This really hurt my schooling. I would have been in bands if I could memorize. After all these years of singing, I only know two songs by heart: "Little Duece Coupe" and "Born To Be Wild"

The "House of Blues" Las Vegas, has Monday night karaoke with a live band.. No TV..
