You won't get any help here on this. We are firmly in favor of only legal downloads, and you are speaking of illegal ones in both your scenarios.

You can get legal MP3 downloads at:

  http://www.tricerasoft.com/karaoke_songs/songs.html

and a couple of others.

Isn't many 'legal' places to get downloads since they aren't legal to begin with.  Don't fileshare, this is killing the karaoke industry!

Actually there are a couple sources of legal downloads of Karaoke.

Only problem is  all of the songs date to about 1860 and before and are currently out of copyright or are for other reasons not copyrighted (example national anthems). Copyright continues for 70 years after the death of the person who wrote the music.

Current pop/rock/country is almost all copyrighted material, and fees must be paid to have a legal copy.

I dont think a show of 1860 and before karaoke songs (only) will go over well, unless it is a classical opera only karaoke.

Even some of the old stuff you must make sure that you have a legal copy of the performance, but many people willingly have put their performances into the public domain. It is very rare for that to happen with the song rights.

Look elsewhere for someone to help you comit software piracy.

Most of the KJs on this forum have spent thousands of dollars on legal songs, and the thought of piracy does bother us.

Among ourselves we may have different levels of "purity/legality" but we all strive for a high standard of at least following the spirit of copyright laws. When an obvious song copying pirate enters our board we will cease our internal debates and attack them like a pack of starving wild dogs. Be warned.
