Hi, I asked a question recently about digital recorders, but no replies, so I bought a Zoom H4 recorder.

Early days but it seems great, small and light, it is the sonic equivalent of a digital camera.  Even the built-in mics are much better than I expected.

You can mount it on a tripod (I bought a gooseneck plus clamp for approx $15) and record a gig.  You can sing into it, hand held, plug in your favourite mic, etc. etc.

Only gripes are low battery life, but it comes with mains adapter (and car adapters are cheap) and some handling noise (be a bit careful) other than that it is a wonderful toy.
