Post subject:  Rsq help....need asap

First Of all I would like to say thank you for welcoming me to the forum. I have a serious technical issue that I thought I would go to the pro's about.
I currently have a rsq karoke system basically set up...I am trying to use a laptop to store the songs or basically as a movable library. I cannot figure out how to use it however....There isn't a cord or anything to hook directly to one another. It is a pavilion ze4500 which should be plenty. It doesn't have a stereo hookup or anything like the fancy sound cards. Basically all I want to do is instead of having to load a disc in the tray I can manipulate it so it basically gets them from the laptop? Is this possible and if so, how would one go about doing it? Thanks in advance

Jay

Jay, first of all... slow down.

WHAT RSQ karaoke system?

And from what I read here, you want to play the tracks off the computer?

It is a RSQ NEO-E500.....Yes, I am wanting to run a laptop just to hold the songs so I don't have to carry all the cd's around everywhere. I have a pavilion laptop ze4500. There is no video card persay in it, I was hoping to go out of the laptop with the svideo cable to the rf modulator and then to the t.v. With the audio I was going to go out of the headphone jack to the 2 rca ports on the amplifier and so on. I have no idea what type of program to get to put on the computer to play the cdg's but I am trying to do this as cheap as possible....I normally deal with a bar crowd of normally no more than 15 people so I don't need anythign real fancy being that I really don't get paid. Also, I have copied all my cdg's to the computer so I am assuming that this program will convert these over to mp+g's? On a side note, is it possible to still use the rsq player to play all the songs and I just have it access them on the computer instead of having a cd? Because the setup I currently have really isn't all that big, I was just trying to get away with using the computer as the library and trying to cue it up to the rsq player....Am I way off base here?
Thanks for the help

what kind of amplifier do you use? what type of mixer?

I personally use a USB sound card and love it. It's discontinued, but there are others out there that are similar in use and expense. Go to Musician's Friend and you'll see a variation of what I use...

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=702540

turns your output sound from your computer to RCA out. (in too, if you want to play with that... I have and it works... but that's not the discussion at hand.)

depending on the system you have for your laptop, the s-video out should suffice. You'd have to look at your operating system and see if you can go extended desktop, dual or some other such type of setting. Mostly, check to see if you have dual monitor support.

Then using Winamp with it's plugins, you can play the converted file on your pc and send the video to a 2nd monitor (tv), and the audio to your amplifier/mixer.

As for converting what you currently have on the E-500, I'm assuming you mean the NEO discs... I think Powerkaraoke has the ability to do this (but am only going by memory now... sorry), but now you're starting to go to expenses.

to convert existing CD+G discs, your laptop will also need a cd+g capable burner. Check the other threads on this particular forum, and you'll see other topics that relate to this.

Now, from what I read, I don't thin you need the RSQ unit. Here is what I did with my set up. I put the output from my sound card directly to the mixer. Then connected the output of the mixer to the powered speaker. The only reason why you would need the RSQ is to maybe use the effects. Other than that, you can connect directly to the mixer.  I have an effects box that I loop through the mixer so I have effects being controlled from the mixer.
