Is there one night at karaoke that will be branded in your mind forever?

Here is one of mine. We did the Bar Bazar every sun for 3 or 4 years (iwas just a singer). It was always crowded sometimes rotation of 40 -50. A young black guy never did sing but he cheered and would go onstage and dance and cutup. I asked him one night whaddya wanta hear? Baby Got Back So I did it. Next week we were shootin pool waiting for karaoke The cutest little gal I had ever seen came up "Are you going to sing your song?" What song dayo?  Oh No  Baby Got Back I had to do that song every sun nite for a year LMAO There was a couple of big booty gals who would come on stage and rub all over me!!!! Now if you can imagine Hank Snow doing baby got back.. LMAO

wow, My nephew does that regularly in his routine. He's a big guy, like Butter Bean the rassler. My best memory would have to be the night I met my girlfriend of almost eight years. I followed my friend Spencer's shows for a long time and this particular bar was our favorite, chicks dancing on the bar when the song was hot, etcetera! Seems Lori would come so her underage daughter could sing karaoke. (underage kids can be with parent in bars in Milwaukee, and the parents can serve them beer) Lori doesn't drink and I just started talking to the group (Lori, Lisa her daughter, and a friend). Lori started coming to karaoke just to see me and we started going with each other regular. Been happy ever since. She lives with me now for about seven years.

One of my most memorable times will probably always be..... my FIRST time doing it in public. It was a rush.

But I've had some other good (blurry, but good, Lol) times over the years.

Once (last summer) I had a guy come up and ask me to sing a certain song, one I was doing at that time fairly often... cause he had a relative visiting from Russia and he said they were taking her out on the town, and had waited in the karaoke bar to see if I came in, just cause he wanted her to hear me sing that song.... so I put it up first, and after I sang it, he thanked me and they left the bar. Kinda made me feel good. I've seen him (and sometimes his wife) in this bar, but I had never talked to them before. Made my night though, to know he brought someone there just to hear a certain song I sing:)

(didn't swell my head- cowboy hat size 7 still fits, Lol- but it made me feel good all the same)

.

This post caught my attention big time. Way back in a day, I was lead singer for a high school rock band. (67-69) The guys threw a big party outside before I went into the service. That was the last time I sang in public until 1990!!!! One weekend, some friends and I went to Weirs Beach, (N.H.) went to a place called the "Sandbar" and they had a karaoke contest that night. ($100.00 first prize) Well, my friends remembered  that I USED to sing, so they ( and the beers I drank ) convinced me to give it a shot. Unbeliveably....I actually won. Did " Mack the Knife " and the crowd went absolutely nuts, espcially when I held that note at the end, AND sang the REAL lyrics, Bobby Darin style. That was a real kick for me, and after I got the hundred, can't remember much of the rest of the night...or the weekend (oh....my head!!) The rest is history. Found a local bar with karaoke, RE-learned a bunch of songs,...got my own "stuff" and went from DJ to KJ and haven't looked back. Due to my age now (57) I call my business "Olde Tyme Karaoke Entertainment" and cater to the doo-wop, standards, 50's, 60's, & 70's rock and roll, as well as old and "new" country singers AND listeners. It's been quite the run and I'm amazed how many people come to the show BECAUSE of the type of music I have on hand. Anyway, that night in New Hampshire was and is my favorite karaoke memory. Just thought I'd share.

My fondest memory, is when my Mom got to see me perform before her memory was gone. She was 84 years young, and I got to sing to her one last time. It was a moment I wont forget for the rest of my life. I sang Fly me to the Moon, and could see her mouthing the words to the song as I sang it to her. Then I sang My Funny Valentine to her which was her favorite song. Those kind of moments will always stay with me. The other memory I wll always cherish in my mind, would be 1997 at the Hollywood Palladium winning KJ of the Year. I was 47 years young and the night will always remain one of the finest moments in my Karaoke career now that I have retired from the business. I hope everyone will be going to Karaokefest this year, it is a wonderful representation for the Karaoke Community I will not be able to attend this year, but I know it will, as always, be a stellar event. Congrats to Peter Parker and all the staff for a job always well done....MV :oh yeah:

One memorable night in Newport, RI, a guy asked if I could sing a Dean Martin song.  After I sang "That's Amore" he pressed a $10 bill into my hand.  At the end of the night he gave me another $20 bill!  And no, I didn't take him home with me ! ;)

Most memorable night would have to be the night I got my first $100 tip from a guy who didn't even sing. I was so shocked I had to look at it to make sure it was real.  LMAO

He ended up getting thrown out of the bar for getting a bit to friendly with me. I loved the tip, but not the attention he was giving me. It was a good bad night.

My best Karaoke memory was just recently...About 2 months ago when I sang at a packed club...The song was a Josh Groban song,"Broken Vow"..I had just learned it to fulfill a request by a friend...I received a standing O....Something I had not experienced in a long time...at least not with a crowd that large...It was probably mostly for the song itself.....but it sure felt good....I had so many people come up to me and ask me to repeat my performance that I had to do it again later in the evening....
