Hi all -- I never did karaoke until I was in Tokyo a couple months ago and went with several friends to a club that had private rooms where a small group could sing in private.  Right up my alley!

Anyway, I'm heading to Baltimore with a couple friends and I was wondering if anyone from Baltimore knows of a similar kind of karaoke locale there.  I've been googling like mad and can't find anything.  Probably not using the right search terms, but all I'm finding are open mic karaoke bars -- not the private "boxes."  Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

I am not in Baltimore.. But I travel all the time and I always sing when I go.   I found this guy    http://www.keyboardmankaraoke.com/
He was voted best Karaoke Jock in Baltimore. If he does not have a show going he will definitely know where one will be.

I also found this site. http://www.mdparty.com/venues/karaoke.asp

It looks like it is a pretty comprehensive list for the area.  Always call before you just go to a place listed online. Sometimes the list gets outdated and they may not have a show anymore.

Good luck, Have fun and let us know where you went and how you liked it.

Rockin'!  :D

I'll check those places out and see if any of them are those "box" style versions that I saw in Tokyo.  Am I using that term correctly?  Is that what it's called here -- "karaoke box?"  Anyway, thanks for the links!

They aren't very common in the states.  Look for the "Asian Town" section of larger cities & you may find some.  I knew of a couple up here that are gone now, they had a older Pioneer library & sounded like you were singing on a boombox.  Not appealing, rather sing in my living room or get a live feel of singing in public.
