My old DAW is history-gone with the wind-ex stole it and that's fine by me as long as she chokes on it.

So ok,...it's time for me to either build or buy a new DAW....I need ideas.

I just chatted with my saleman at Sweetwater and he suggested their Creation Station tower @ $1399......I'm thinking 1399 can go a whole lot farther if i once again build my own-besides that, i need a rackmount machine.

Who of you folks wanna help me design n build the killer DAW setup?...I'm open to all ideas from hardware to software.

My primary concern is motherboard, processors, chipset and audio interface.....I was running a souped up AMD via M-Audio to/from my mixer then, but now I got this new mixer with USB interface so it's a clean sheet of paper.

The laptop Imt yping on right now is a Compaq presario 5105 It is a backup It only has 80 gig HD but I have run gigs all night never hiccupped The audio out on my system is hardly any different than the delta44 on the system comp. In fact I have put it in place of 2 or 4 cd players and the audience recognized the difference in audio quality. The audio quality on a cd player  degrades unless the optics are cleaned on a regular basis

Right now my main comp is a 3.3 1mb cache 800 FSB with a sata HD Next investment will be a laptop with high HD capacity. The slim towers are attractive but for some reason they are not working out.
