Anybody backpack on this forum?  I've been getting into it more lately but it is hard to find people to backpack with.  There are good people on this forum but i don't know if they would be interested in this.  If anybody backpacks, let me know and maybe we could backpack somewhere cool.  I'd like to do the canyon and maybe the Crazy mountains in Montana next year, or somewhere local again here in the East.  Anyway, maybe nobody is interested, but you never know. jim

I saw your photo's last week..   Wish I was more of the outdoors type.  Backpacking to me means sitting here typing with a cold pack between the chair and my lumbar region.  Must be a great feeling though for those that feel more at peace with nature, and don't mind being alone with quiet.

I don't think I'm that advanced!  I'll probably keep it under 10k unless I am along for the ride, first. All I have is 3 season gear, but I may go 4-season for the right trip if need be.

A site this size is a fine place to look.  Folks have a wide array of interests in here.  Might be a great place to find people that have both musical, and outdoor interests.

yeah, there are some GREAT people here, I just guess I have to get lucky to find people who dig something as specialzed as backpacking. It is expensive to get into and many people look at you like you are crazy when you tell them how much $$ it takes to do it and what you have to do and....oh wait, sounds like karaoke!

I would've thought backpacking to be quite an inexpensive interest.  Sure there's the initial cost of the necessary equipment such as the dolly that supports and pulls the big screen color TV and microwave you take with you etc. Besides that, the tent, and girly magazines, what more is there ?

AHH,  I suppose you must fly to get to many of these locations !

Ollie,  How about black canyon in Gunnison ?

<smacking self of forehead>   How could I have forgotten !  No wonder it's an expensive hobby !  Not to mention tipping the pizza delivery kid well for traveling outside his normal radius of delivery !

I back packed all over the US, Canada and Mexico. A lot of walking and a lot of hitchiking. Lots of people did that in the day (60s and 70s). Not exactly camping, but a little bit of it thrown in.
