This was the wall that I broke into under a common area stairwell to build tool shed.. It was just a wall no alcoves or door opening, I knocked the wall down and framed the door. Punched a hole thru the wall first to look and make sure I wasn't in the neighbors condo... Used a reciprocating saw... carved out the whole area, and bought the door and frame from a builders supply place... Framed and hung the 18 inch door. slapped up some molding, sheetrocked the who place painted and sanded

(Hey,  you like the display box I built for a few of the Hallmark ornaments I collect?)
HAHAHA

Opening the door this is part of the long opposite wall I hung pegboard on the sheetrock I hung over the jackstuds under the steps,  this was just an open area with filth, cement, and the bottom of a hallways stairs to a second floor.  I made the room cathedral slope and sheetrocked up the bottom of the stairs,  also insulated the whole room Dimesions 8'Lx4'W

Far wall where I built in shelving under the hallways steps, above those shelves starts a diagonal slope up the hallways steps to a ceiling I also sheetrocked.. Needed to built wood bracking under the steps to support a wall.

I love knocking down walls into unfinished areas and finishing them !!

Problem I have though is asthma.  That dust crap mold etc is nasty, plus I hate wearing friggin gloves and sheetrock burns the xit out've skin if you do enough of it.. Joint compound is nasty too on the skin but I love sculpting corners and filling in with it..  Sanding is the worst part though... Rock dust gets everywhere

What I'd like to do is knock into the dining room wall where I have very little depth to work with,  and build in a 55 gallon aquarium.  I'd have to really insulate behind the tank however because the neighbors would be bothered by noise.

Just what is a house trailer,  and assuming it's like a double-wide how does this work ?  It'd no longer be mobile, and how about area By-Laws where those are parked ?

This is interesting,  I tried doing an I-net search for Housetrailer, and this came up. Seems as though You Tube really is viewed since I've seen quite a few movies removed for copyright infringement.

Keiths around.  He's been in the tech forum laying low.

Yep,  I love building things that aren't too intricate, or complicated but I'm really starting to feel it aftewards..  Especially when dust, hammering, and handtools are involved..  So I feel as tho I'm racing the clock looking for projects while I can still lift a 16 oz hammer without slipping a disc

That seems to be quite a common problem many have Milo.  These projects require dedication from start to finish, and lord only knows how long this can be because often-times opening an area, is like opening up pandora's box. Leveling a door frame, and having to use old shingles for spacing around the frame was no several hour project. and at times given wiring, (and unforeseen stuff that you bump into You end up with a mess to fix).  Turns out that a small 4X8 room was MUCH more time consuming (do to it's smaller size and tighter working conditions) than a room twice as large that gives me more room to work in would've been.

I'd have VERY quickly taken the top off've the bucket of joint compound and patched the whole in the sheetrock !   Of course another question is "What if the neighbor had the same idea I did" ?  :(

Well,  I had some leverage "A Violin"  (She had a dog).  I'm sure I could've negotiated something

This was around 1992 I knocked into the stairwell, and my concern was more for the birds I had at that time.  Between the rockdust and open area between floors prior to putting the ceiling in it could've been problematic.
