Hi all, I'm brand new to this karaoke thing so please help me out. My question is: for a pair of JBL RM10's w/ the specs as follows: http://www.jbl.com/home/products/produc ... FS&ser=MON What karaoke amplifier would you recommend? How many watts should its output be so that I can avoid overpowering or underpowering the above pair of speakers? Any other specs I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance for any of your input... |

Is this for home use? If so, I would think that 100 watts/ch RMS would do fine. Do you plan to get a separate amp and mixer, or powered mixer? If it's not for home use, you would probably better off with true PA speakers, which are more efficient, can handle higher sound levels, and are built to be transported. Those JBLs are interesting speakers - kind of a hybrid of home and PA speakers. They look like they would make good home Karaoke speakers. I saw them for around $110 each on-line, which is way below their original MSRP. |

First off, thanks for your quick and informative replies. Yes, it is for home use karaoke. Right now I'm eyeing on either Audio2000 AKJ7000 or AKJ7050 mixing amp. May I ask if anyone of you have any experience of either one of these? W/ the max output power of 360W/8 Ohms, will it a good fit for the abovementioned set of JBL speakers? Once again, thanks in advance for any of your input... |

And also Behringer PMP2000? Thanks. |

I'm pretty new to Karaoke and pro sound myself, so I'm not familiar with those powered mixers. I use a Behringer 1002FX mixer (not powered) and a separate amp. I like the mixer - simple to use, decent sound, neat FX, and it was only $90. I already had a 100 watt/ch RMS amp. I think that the Behringer PMP2000 would be more than adequate for home use, with more inputs and power than you likely need. Personally, I like the separate mixer and amp approach because it gives upgrade flexibility and, coming from a home audio background, I believe that separate components typically give better sound. |
