If you ever see or come across those new threads by new members, normally posted in the Admin Forum, PLEASE DON"T CLICK or open any of the links on embedded image. I am referring to spams.

Over the week end I was a little bit bored and started to try and find out where those links lead to. I can tell you where it lead me to: It lead me to REFORMATTED my HD.
Virus Trojan... you name it.

So Let Me Say It Again..... DON"T, DON"T Do it.

:(

Oh gosh, who would ever?

Then again, I guess there are some who would.(obviously, Jian and Lonnie did)  LMAO

We've had a few newbies pop in here and say "Can you listen to my song and tell me what I sound like?!?!".. with a link... and I wont even do THAT until I see others before me have clicked it.

Charmin <---------- 3 hard drives ago shoulda known to say "no". Now, 3 hard drives later, I've smartened up a bit;)

Good of you all to bring this up publicly though, as I said, some may click those links. (especially.... men)  LOL

A few things to do if you are curiuos

Right click on the link.. copy link location... paste into notepad for actual address
is it the same as what link states?

like matt says if it has something like http://12.paypal.com/ dont click

you can delete the extensions and go to the index page.

Got to whois and do a ping with full addy
or do whois

you don't even need to go through all that if you're using IE. Merely look at the very bottom of your webpage when you leave the mouse on the link or image that's clickable...

You'll see the url there.

OR you can right-click on the url or image and go to Properties...
Image

In both of these cases, I merely put my mouse on the banner image of the post I was making...

I do this WHENEVER I get an email that's questionable... anytime someone's asking me to confirm something with a link, ebay, paypal, even friends... I don't trust NOTHING after having had a password stealer creap into my system! and that was a link from a friend. But she got hacked... and didn't know it!

be careful of emails that come from the site as well.  I got one today, as a matter of fact.  I don't open them at all!

The virus and Trojans I got from those sites even disable my anti-virus program. I was lucky cos my data files are not in my c drive.
