A few things to do if you are curiuos
Right click on the link.. copy link location... paste into notepad for actual address
is it the same as what link states?
like matt says if it has something like
http://12.paypal.com/ dont click
you can delete the extensions and go to the index page.
Got to whois and do a ping with full addy
or do whois
you don't even need to go through all that if you're using IE. Merely look at the very bottom of your webpage when you leave the mouse on the link or image that's clickable...
You'll see the url there.
OR you can right-click on the url or image and go to Properties...
In both of these cases, I merely put my mouse on the banner image of the post I was making...
I do this WHENEVER I get an email that's questionable... anytime someone's asking me to confirm something with a link, ebay, paypal, even friends... I don't trust NOTHING after having had a password stealer creap into my system! and that was a link from a friend. But she got hacked... and didn't know it!
