Hello I would like to make my laptop as a karaoke machine, is there a way to do so? I meant I put my microphone into the laptop, and then can hear my voice from the speaker or whatever. You know, just make it like a karaoke machine, it doesn't have to be fancy.

Thanks

You need a basic mixer -- you can get away with most anything, but I suggest:

    https://secure.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/Behringer-Xenyx-1002FX?full_sku=631266

That has effects, which you will want.

As far as software, for free you can use Winamp with the MP3+G plugin and Pacemaker for key change. You can register them for small amounts of money to avoid the nagging screens.

At that point, you can buy a cheap mic:

  https://secure.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/buy_behringer_xm8500_microphone?full_sku=270490

I have tested those, and while they have a bit more handling noise than an SM-58 they are pretty good. They blow away the PG48 and any Nady mic I have seen.

Why so many steps?
The mixer, it makes my voice come out of my laptop's speakers?
Are there softwares that I can buy and do all these things? LIke I said, I just want to use my voice chat mic. and sing along my mp3s, then my voice comes out of the speakers as I sing along, just like the karaoke machine. I don't want it to be fancy or anything.

you want your laptop to be your singing machine? That's different than it being a karaoke machine, where OTHERS would sing along. At least by most of us on this site...

Go with Cool Edit Pro 2 or Audacity.

Yes you can but at a price. Get an EMU soundcard; it is bundle with some nice software that you can use. http://www.emu.com/products/product.asp ... duct=13554

I certainly hope not. Why would you ever want to do that? You don't need a mic to sing along with a laptop. My assumption was that you wanted to amplify your voice. There is no point to singing so that your voice comes out of speakers as ridiculously small as a laptop has.

If you just want to sing along with a song, then do it without a microphone. If you want to record yourself, that is another story, but you didn't say you want to do that.

I don't think I can help you, since I have no concept of why you would want to do what it seems you want to do.

If you want to use anything like a decent mic, then you need a preamp, which the mixer has. Your laptop has no preamp worth the name.

no no..

What I  meant when I say sing along is like you hold a microphone, then you can hear your voice just like the karaoke machine. That's what I am trying to do here is to hold  my chat mic. to my laptop, then sing. I don't want to record my voice or anything (mayb in the future). Is there a way to do that?

I'm sorry but I've never heard a laptop with speakers good enough in them to want to hear anything through them other than "You've got  mail"
