I own a JVC XL-MV505GD. I am not a professional, but we Karaoke at home every week. I own 100's of CD+G so we take it very seriously. I would like to get my system setup right, but I have no idea how. I get a very strong static sound from my speakers when singing and I am fed up. Currently, I run the video and sound to my TV and then output my TV to my Pioneer stereo. I have also tried running the sound directly to my stereo and also have static. I wouldn't mind getting different hardware or speakers just for my Karaoke, if needed, but I have no idea what to get. Or, if anyone can help me fix my problem, that would also be great. Any ideas? |

You are getting static because home stereos are not designed for live music - karaoke is live vocals - not only is it bad for the speakers (can possibly blow them), it can also possibly damage your amp/receiver! If you are serious, you need a separate system for karaoke. Something like http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=630238 Nice full system, low cost, great starter system. |

Can I put Karaoke Speakers out of my JVC unit, or do I need a mixer? |

No you cannot hook speakers directly to the player itself, it does not contain it's own amplification. I SUPPOSE you could hook up a pair of powered speakers to it directly, but the players built in mic inputs are still pretty junky & you'd probably end up getting a separate mixer anyway since there wouldn't be any kind of eq'ing available or decent effects available. BTW, if the speaker says "Karaoke" Speaker (or 'karaoke' mixer or amplifier), more than likely it's overpriced, underfeatured & underpowered & really not worth the price. |

OK. So, if I go with a basic mixer that allows me to conect to my Karaoke JVC unit and I buy some decent speakers to come off my mixer, I should be fine? There are only three outputs on my Karaoke JVC unit. One Video and two Audio (L & R). Would I conect the Video to my TV and the two Audio to the Mixer and that is basically it? Does it matter what kind of speakers I get? |

Does it matter what kind of speakers I get? Question 1 - If you want to connect the speakers to the mixer, you'd need a 'powered' mixer - has it's own amp built in like the link I provided earlier. Or you would need a non-powered mixer & a set of 'powered' speakers - providing their own amps internally or you would need non-powered speakers & a separate power amp. Qestion 2 - yes the microphones & player would hook into the mixer & the video still to the tv. Question 3 - depends on what kind of mixer you get to determine what you will need for your speakers. |
