hi guys and gals been awile since i wrote, well i bought me a laptop ( gateway running the new vista.. 160 gig hd 2 gigs ram etc...} to use for karaoke i have a 250gig external harddrive (maxtor}  that i have my songs on.  heres the deal i start playing a song and it sounds fine then all at once i start getting a lot of static it does not matter if i'm running off the battery or the 110. so i don't think its a ground issue. i am using virtual dj for hosting have a  usb audio micro advantage sound card. i also have tried it with the internal sound card as well same issue.  any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated......cal

There is alot of people having issues with sound and Vista. I would repartition the 160 with another 10 gig and dual boot with XP installed on it. After while knowledge will be popping up on which services to shutdown. It does sound like a resource or buffer issue. Static on digital audio is not common unless at high volume levels and get floor noise.
