Good luck - since the Pioneer Twin Tray & JVC triple trays are no longer made, there isn't much left to pick from in the multi-tray market.

Being my first post I don't have any credibility here but I thought I'd step in and tell you how pleased I am with my double tray player. I know by reading this forum for some time that VocoPro takes a major hit here. But after trying many many single and cheaper double tray players of various brands I have never been happier than with my VocoPro 9000 Pro. It's extremely fast on preload and instant after pressing track number. It has all the features and more of any player out there that you might want incorporated in a player including auto video switching. Out of many VocoPro items out there this is one of a few I will recommend. I know that there are cheaper ones out there but it's been worth the money. As like others here I have sent back loads of players that had a bad tray that wouldn't recognize disks or had a tray mechanical problem after time. I think the dead on arrival stems more toward quality control which the electronic industry suffers from in general. The longevity is just lack on quality. When you look at a company's top of the line merchandise it's often hard to put that much credibility in their lower line. For example Wilson makes some of the finest professional footballs on the planet, but they also make plastic footballs. Someone ragging on Wilson may not be necessarily the whole authority on their entire line. In this electronic business there may be a reason one item is cheaper than another, shortcuts to compete with rival companies in price in that lower market. I may have been lucky with my 9000 pro but I couldn't think of using any player I have owned in the past in place of this one.

I've heard of a handful of lucky ones, and a buttload of unlucky ones with this particular model.

Yeah, I've heard the same.....but with just about every model made. But as you said...not much out there to choose from so I consider this the best for now. You know, when I research cell phones, no matter which one I research, just about all the feedback from consumers is negative. I mean it's almost like the only ones who want to post about it has had a bad experience and wants to vent about it. The ones very happy with the model usually don't even think of searching out a place to praise the model. So, I've kind of learned to read between the lines so to speak and take my chances with what I hope will turn out to be a good experience. In this case with the 9000 pro I couldn't be happier and thought I would share it.
On extra note I work in an industry that uses electronics to control multi millions of dollars worth of equipment. Money is not an object so the quality of electronics is as high as available. But still, we continue to receive dead on arrival electronics from time to time. I guess just the nature of the electronic beast.

The biggest complaint I hear on that model is the graphics glitching regularaly &/or off time lyric syncs.
I agree more people will complain over bad experiences, but USUALLY there will be at least a few that will come in & defend it in the forums, unfortunately, this one seems to get defended less than any other bad mouthed product.
Kind of like Behringer, another product I personally would not use, but their products might actually be becoming stronger as more people are defending them over the last couple years and starting to hear more good about them than in the past.

Fortunately I haven't had that problem with my quality brand disks. Like all CDG players they ARE a computer. The cheaper players come with slower processors which saves a ton of money for the manufacturers. This one seems to excel compared to most players I've had. The main advancement that we are enjoying in most everything electronic these days is the price drop of memory and processors through sheer volume. The sad fact is that some of the players that have been around awhile have outdated processor speed but considering the price in that limited market they would not want to try and sell a player who's processor costs more than the total unit sells for. The difference in price of a quality processor is that big of a difference. All things considered I believe the 9000 to have a superior processor compared to most. I think the problem with producing the state of the art player these days is what consumers in this limited market are willing to pay for it. Most people have no problem buying an $800 laptop that has a $123 manufacturers wholesale cost processor, but want a karaoke player for $200. It's not a big enough market to absorb the R&D for the profit margin I suspect. So, you pays your money and you takes your chances in our occupation these days and hope for the best.

Forgive me, but may I ask what kind of problems you had/have with your Numark? I have that player, have abused it greatly, and it hasn't hiccuped once. Just wondering...
Thanks,
R

I recently replaced my DJ player with an American Audio CDG-350, which is a dual DJ rack-mount style CDG player. The only karaoke feature that seems to be missing is vocal elimination should you have multiplex tracks (I do more DJ gigs than karaoke and got used to working with 3 players, with my RSQ trip-tray as the 3rd unit, so that wasn't an issue). One nice feature is that not only does it have built-in key changing, but you can also change the pitch/speed, which is usually not possible with typical karaoke players. It lacks looping capability on the DJ end, but I rarely used this in the past and didn't feel it was a necessity. Individual video outs can be run through a separate switch, or if you have a Q-start mixer, the video will switch automatically. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and am very pleased with it.

Let me add though that, in my opinion, the Pioneer twin-tray (if you can get one in good shape) is about the best all-around conventional pro player.

they run a bit quiet, and the last one I dealt with had trouble reading burns... sometimes it would do it, other times it just locked up... think the problem was with that particular karaoke outfit, and NOT the player... just saying it had issues!

Hello:
I am thinking about buying this dual tray model myself. (american audio 350) What type of "auto switcher" are you using for the audio and video. Each deck has its own output. How are you connected to it. I see that Vocopro has an auto switcher built in.(vocopro 9000)
Any opinions?
Thank you.

I don't use an auto switcher, just bought a plain old 4 switch manual switcher from Rat Shack (actually my new one is a Magnovox 4 switch that can use SVGA, Composite or Component inputs & built in RF converter for cable out or all the same input options also as output options) & I switch it when I start the next player.
