Hi from Scotland. I've been on Singers Showcase for a couple of weeks now, but this is my first post on the forum. I've been into music from a very young age and won a talent contest aged 10 singing Charley Pride's Crystal Chandeliers. My Mother was a massive country fan and Charley was one of her favourite singers, so I was brain washed from a very early age... Joking aside, I have to admit, country music is my first love, but I also enjoy mainstream pop as well as some standards and traditional music. I was more of a singles buyer though never had enough pocket money to purchase albums, so if it wasn't in the hit parade or billboard charts, I probably haven't heard it. I also play keyboards, but not professionally, I have made a lot of Scottish Traditional Cdg's and backings for some requests that were not available elsewhere. I'm enjoying my time online, meeting people from all walks of life and all ends of the earth. I moderate a karaoke room in an online community that can be a blast especially at week-ends and when the need arises I do the odd gig here and there playing my keyboard, singing or KJ/Djing. It's always good to meet new people especially those who share the same interests as myself. As usual I've stayed up way too late, I should have been in bed hours ago, but this place is just soooo addictive... I really must leave now so I'll say Goodnight and hope to hear you all in the singers showcase soon. huggggggggggggggggggggggggs Jan. |

Thanks for the welcome, still trying to find my way round these boards, maybe you could give me a few pointers. I keep meeting with msgs similar to you must be invited to access or post on this forum etc... not sure where to start and how to gain access. I believe I need to have 10 posts to gain an avatar. I did apply to join the singers forum, so I'm gradually finding my way round I think, just not sure if I'm going the right way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Welcome KB. I'm new here too so I can't help much on the access details. I am so surprised to hear that you like country music and live in Scotland. Is country music popular there? I think here in the states it is not such a popular music except in the south. I understand that New York City as big as it is doesn't even have one country music radio station! Post often and enjoy. |

Hey, Jan - So glad to have you with us. I've already heard you , was very pleased and commented to that effect. You've already heard me and done the same. You're right about this being addictive. I have never ever been in a chat room, talked to another soul on the internet or anything like that. Imagine my surprise when I find myself spending hours listening to other great singers and then talking to them all over the world. Amazing. So what is the karaoke online community that you moderate? |

Hi jb, yes I do remember seeing and hearing you in SS and it was a very pleasant experience, so I am happy to see you on here too. Thanks for replying. I don't moderate a karaoke community, I moderate a karaoke room within a private community. The community is mainly for the visually impaired, but we also have a lot of members who just like to come and sing. I don't want to say too much about it on here at the moment, for fearing of advertising. I don't want to be kicked off of here before I've even got started. hugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggs Jan. |

Always my fear. Knowing nothing, I worry about everything and take everything very literally. I've not taken a lot of time looking around on the site, but I've looked into a few things. I know if you ever want to talk to someone privately, you can by sending a PM. If there is something I want to say that could be construed as a complaint or something I just don't understand, I use the PM feature. I've only been here since the beginning of May. Have a great weekend. Feel free to PM me or one of the 'older' members. Hope you introduce me to a lot of great country songs - I'll do my best to entice you with jazz and blues. |
